Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Hotel Cleopatra Palace – the name sounds a bit over-the-top, doesn’t it? But you know what, this place actually surprised me. It sits right on Avenida de las Américas, which means you’re literally in the heart of Playa de las Américas without being stuck in some back street where you need GPS just to find a decent café.
The thing about this hotel is that it gets the balance right, and I mean that. You’ve got families with kids running around the pool area during the day (it can get pretty lively around 11 AM when everyone’s had their breakfast), but it’s not one of those places where you’re dodging screaming toddlers at every corner. The rooms are solid 4-star quality – nothing fancy, but the air conditioning actually works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in the Canaries. The balconies face different directions, so if you’re lucky enough to get one facing away from the main strip, you’ll actually get some quiet time. Though honestly, even the street-facing rooms aren’t too bad since the building’s set back a bit from the road.
What really sold me on this place was how easy everything felt. Check-in was smooth (they speak decent English, which helps), and the staff genuinely seemed to know the area – not just the touristy stuff, but like, where to catch the bus to Los Cristianos without getting the runaround, or which supermarket nearby doesn’t completely gouge you on water bottles. The hotel’s got that worn-in comfort thing going on – it’s not brand new and shiny, but everything works and feels looked after. The breakfast spread is pretty decent too, though it gets busy between 9 and 10, so either go early or wait it out. There’s this little corner spot by the windows where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a 5-minute walk to the beach, and there’s this whole network of bars and restaurants basically at your doorstep. But here’s the thing – you’re close enough to walk to everything, yet far enough from the absolute chaos of the main nightlife zone that you can actually sleep at night. I stayed here in July, which is peak season, and while it was busy, it never felt overwhelming. The pool area gets good sun most of the day, and there’s usually space to grab a lounger if you’re not too picky about the exact spot. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during busy periods, but the staff will sort you out – they know which nearby streets are your best bet.
Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and if you’re looking for some Instagram-perfect boutique experience, this probably isn’t it. But if you want a reliable, comfortable base for exploring Tenerife’s south coast without breaking the bank or dealing with hotel drama, Hotel Cleopatra Palace actually delivers. That 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place that just works, you know?

Location is perfect, next to the beach as well as shops and restaurants. Balcony’s see view is really fantastic, worth to pay. Breakfast is exellent, tasty and there’s pretty much everything you can hope for. Childrens club is open everyday and you can choose without furher notice were kids want to join, and my younger (and braver) child really enjoyed herself even when she speaks only Finnish and didn’t understand a word. 😂 You can use the pool area of the hotel next to Cleopatra (part of the same hotel group) which is great because pool is bigger and better and there is a cool water play area for children. Everything seems clean and well taken cared of.
Margaret from United Kingdom (8/10)
Location was great. Only 10 minutes walk to Los Christanos or 30 minutes to Costa Adeje. Breakfast had a variety of choice.
Kaza from Ireland (8/10)
A very spacious hotel! The reception staff and room attendants were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are dated but clean, it would be great if there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
