First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Caletillas Home on Avenida Maritima, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — the building looks pretty unassuming from the street. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to show off. This four-star property sits right in Araya, and I mean literally steps from the water. The fact that there’s parking right on site was already a win in my book — anyone who’s driven around the Canary Islands knows how rare that is.

Location Magic

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Tenerife, but this spot in Araya is something special. You’re basically on the doorstep of some incredible coastal walks, and the little fishing village vibe here is authentic — not touristy at all. What really struck me was how couples seem to absolutely love it here (and honestly, I can see why). There’s something romantic about waking up to those ocean views and having the whole coastline practically to yourself. The location rating speaks for itself, but actually being there? It’s even better than the numbers suggest.

The Space Itself

My room was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything worked perfectly. The setup feels more like a well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room, which I actually preferred. You get that sense of having your own space rather than just passing through. The views from most rooms look out over the Atlantic, and on clear days you can see other islands in the distance. I spent way too much time just sitting by the window with my morning coffee, watching the fishing boats head out.

What Makes It Work

The staff here actually care — and I don’t mean in that rehearsed hospitality way. They know the area inside and out, so when I asked about hiking trails or where locals eat, I got real recommendations. The whole place runs smoothly without feeling corporate or stuffy. There’s no restaurant on site, but honestly? That just means you get to explore the authentic local spots nearby. Plus, having that kitchenette means you can grab fresh fish from the local market and cook it yourself if you want.

Why Guests Love It

After spending several days here, I totally get why this place scores so highly with visitors. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — just a really solid, well-located place to stay where you feel like you’re experiencing the real Canary Islands. The combination of being right on the coast, having reliable amenities, and that genuine local atmosphere is pretty hard to beat. If you’re the type who values location and authenticity over flashy amenities, you’ll probably love Caletillas Home as much as I did. Just don’t expect a resort experience — this is better.

  Perfect apartament with wonderful ocean view. We spend amazing week. In the apartment you can find everything you want (we were impressed that there is toaster, coffee machine, a lot of towels, bathrobes and I can count forever ;)).   Willkommensgetränke (Wein , Cava, Wasser, Kaffee, Tee). Obstkorb.
  Rollladen im Schlafzimmer, was ich sehr mag.
  Schöne, große, echte Pflanze.
  2 Geragenplätze. Sehr nützlich und bequem!
  Ganz nahe an einem kleinen Strand und zu Restaurants.
  Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

  El apartamento es Un monada desde la entrada hasta cualquier rincón del apartamento. No faltaba detalle. Tenía absolutamente de todo.
  
  El anfitrión muy amable nos dieron de bienvenida una gran cesta de fruta, 1 botella de vino de su propia cosecha, 1 botella de agua.
  
  Así como en la habitación hicieron la cobertura con dos bombones y una botella de agua Par cada uno.

  Die Wohnung hat alles, was man braucht. Juan Carlos und Conchy haben wirklich an alles gedacht und speziell bei der Küchenausstattung fehlt es an nichts. Der Ausblick vom Balkon ist zum Verlieben. Pool und kostenfreier Garagenplatz sind ein Plus. Letzteres haben wir nicht genutzt, da wir immer einen freien Parkplatz auf der Straße gefunden haben – waren aber auch noch in der Off-Season da. Bett und Kopfkissen sehr bequem!
  
  In der Nähe der Unterkunft gibt es einen Trimm-Dich-Platz, sodass man morgens eine Sportsession einschieben und danach direkt im Meer schwimmen gehen kann.
  
  Wir würden das Apartment jederzeit wieder buchen – klare Empfehlung!

  l appartamento risulta politissimo e completo di ogni cosa per trascorrere una vacanza perfetta. vista spettacolare e garage dotato di posto auto ( da non sottovalurare, parcheggi pochi e affollati in zona. un grazie al padrone di casa. gentilissimo.
