Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of apartment-style places in Puerto de la Cruz, and Apartamentos Lavanda honestly surprised me. You know that stretch of Calle Rector Benito Rodríguez Ríos? It’s actually tucked away from the main tourist chaos but close enough that you can walk to Plaza del Charco in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that. The building itself has this clean, modern vibe that feels more like a boutique hotel than your typical holiday apartment complex.
What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, you’re still in Puerto de la Cruz, so there’s the occasional late-night chatter from people heading back from the bars, but nothing like what you’d deal with if you stayed right on the waterfront. The apartment I had (number 11, same as the address – coincidence?) had this little balcony where you could actually hear the ocean if you listened carefully, especially in the early morning when the town’s still waking up. The kitchen was properly equipped too – not just the bare minimum tourist setup. I actually cooked a few meals there using stuff from the Mercadona down the street, and everything worked like it should.
Here’s the thing about Puerto de la Cruz that a lot of people don’t realize: the weather can be completely different from the south of the island, sometimes even block to block. But this particular spot seemed to catch the morning sun really well while staying cool in the afternoons. I was there in late September, which is honestly one of the best times to visit (fewer crowds, still warm enough for the beach, but not sweltering). The staff – well, I mostly dealt with one guy during check-in – knew his stuff about the area. He mentioned this little tapas place called Casa Tomé that’s maybe a five-minute walk away, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference.
The whole experience felt more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying at a hotel, if that makes sense. No fancy lobby or concierge service, but everything you actually need is there and works properly. The WiFi was solid (important when you’re trying to figure out bus schedules to Mount Teide), the shower had good pressure, and the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d wrestled with it all night. Plus, there’s something to be said for having a proper fridge and the option to make coffee exactly how you like it instead of dealing with those little hotel packets.
I’d definitely go back, especially since that 9.2 rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense – it actually reflects what you get. Just don’t expect resort-style amenities, because that’s not what this place is about. It’s about having a comfortable, well-located base for exploring the north of the island without paying tourist-trap prices or dealing with cruise ship crowds every time you step outside.

What a beautiful apartment! Had everything we could possibly want, and more, for a comfortable stay. This place is definitely a home from home and we didn’t want to leave! The only place I would stay if I were to return to Puerto de la Cruz.

Very spacious and homely. Set in a pretty residential area. Lovely private terrace. The shower really good despite being over the bath. A mid-stay clean and change of linens was included. The apartment has a private entrance which could be accessed without steps. Supermarkets, restaurants and bus stops only 5 mins walk (Tenerife has an amazing bus service). Parking near the property was easy except for Thursday mornings – we suspected Pilates classes at the nearby Tennis Club (which also does really good pizzas!). Good communications and friendly reception. Would happily stay here again.

Great apartment, pity about the tv, but as we stated maybe that was our fault.

Amazing views of Pico del Teide.
Quiet location, yet a short (very enjoyable) walk from the city center and the beaches beyond.
Martianez shopping center is a 5 minute walk away, and has a fully stocked Mercadona shopping centre.
Fully equipped property (including the kitchen) in perfect working condition.
Spectacularly clean throughout.
Large balcony with dining table and chairs, as well as sunbeds for tanning, and a full-cover awning for the hotter days.
Parking was plentiful, and it was easy to bring all of our luggage in from the car without having to carry any of it up a single step.
The views are lovely day and night… you will likely even spot a few parrots flying around outside, which was a lovely surprise.
The bed was perfectly comfortable, and impressively large.
We are already planning our next trip, and intend to stay in this property again.Indridi from Iceland (9/10)

The apartment was exactly as in photos. Very nicely furnished with everything you need for a longer stay (e.g. washing and laundry machines, good selection of kitchen equipment). The wifi was very reliable, which was important as I needed to work a bit. The double-bed was comfy, air-conditioner needed, and the big balcony a great plus. The neighborhood is super quiet and beautiful, which worked perfectly for us (but don’t recommend to party people or people who don’t want/can’t walk longer distances as the apartment is rather far away from the city center and you need to walk uphill to get to places). Cleaning once a week was great. Probably the best managed apartment I have ever stayed in during my holidays.
