The location is honestly perfect – it’s tucked away on Antonio Ruiz Alvarez street, which means you’re literally a five-minute walk from Puerto de la Cruz’s main action but without all the tourist chaos right outside your window. I mean, you can actually sleep here, which is saying something for this area.

The hotel itself has that solid 4-star feel without trying too hard to be fancy. The lobby’s got this relaxed vibe that immediately tells you this isn’t some stuffy place where you’ll feel weird walking through in flip-flops. What really impressed me though was how the staff actually seemed to know the area – not just the obvious tourist spots, but like, where to get the best local fish or which beaches are less crowded on weekends. That 8.3 rating makes total sense when you experience the service firsthand. Check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived early), and honestly, the whole place just runs well without feeling overly corporate.

The rooms are comfortable – nothing revolutionary, but everything works and the beds are actually decent, which you can’t always count on. Here’s the thing about staying here: you’re walking distance to Playa Jardín, but more importantly, you’re close enough to wander into the old town for dinner without it being a whole production. The hotel’s got a pool area that’s nice for an afternoon break, and I loved that it wasn’t constantly packed with screaming kids – though there were families around, it maintained this chill atmosphere. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever driven around Puerto de la Cruz, you know is a genuine blessing. I actually found myself using the hotel as a base to explore the northern part of the island pretty easily – you’re well-positioned for day trips to the Anaga mountains or even a quick drive up to Teide if you’re feeling ambitious. The whole area has this authentic Canarian feel that a lot of the southern resorts just don’t capture, and staying at Alua Tenerife puts you right in the middle of it without sacrificing comfort.
