You know what caught me off guard about Actors Studio? The name makes it sound like some trendy boutique place, but honestly, it’s just this really solid neighborhood hotel tucked into La Orotava that somehow nails everything without making a big fuss about it. I mean, when you’re walking down Calle Tosca Alta looking for the entrance, you might actually walk past it at first – it’s not flashy, but that’s sort of the point.

The thing about staying here is that you’re right in the heart of old La Orotava, which is huge if you actually want to experience the Canary Islands beyond the tourist strip. I’m talking about those gorgeous colonial buildings with the wooden balconies that everyone posts on Instagram – well, you can literally walk to Casa de los Balcones in about three minutes. And the local bar where the older guys play dominoes every afternoon? Right around the corner. The staff actually knows this stuff too, which is refreshing – they’ll tell you when the Saturday morning market is worth hitting up (it is) and which guachinche serves the best local wine (there’s one about ten minutes uphill that’s absolutely worth the walk).

What really gets me is how this place manages to feel both completely local and totally comfortable for travelers. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – nothing fancy, but you’ve got good WiFi, decent air conditioning, and beds that don’t leave you with a sore back. I stayed during the spring festival season and was worried about noise, but the windows actually block out most of the street sounds. Though honestly, if you’re here during Los Indianos in February, you’ll want to be out there anyway – the whole town turns into this amazing carnival celebration. The check-in process was smooth, parking isn’t a nightmare like in some of the coastal towns (there’s street parking nearby, and the reception folks know where to direct you), and the breakfast is simple but uses local ingredients. Sometimes simple just works better, you know?

Here’s what really sold me on this place – that 9.3 rating isn’t inflated hotel marketing nonsense. It’s because they understand that most travelers want a clean, comfortable base in an authentic location without paying resort prices. You’re a fifteen-minute drive from Puerto de la Cruz if you want beaches and nightlife, but you’re sleeping in a real Canarian town where the bread comes from the panadería down the street and the evening paseo is still a thing. The value here is honestly incredible – I’ve paid twice as much for sterile chain hotels that gave me nothing close to this experience. If you’re the type who’d rather explore local neighborhoods than hang by a pool all day, Actors Studio is exactly what you’re looking for.

  The location was perfect to visit La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz or even the Teide national park!
  
  It was close to useful stores and still it was so far from the main roads that we had a really nice sleep.

  El lugar es muy tranquilo, el estudio está súper completo, cuidado con cada detalle.
  En el baño y en la cocina no falta de nada, y la terraza es estupenda. La cama es enorme y súper cómoda. La ubicación está céntrica a muchos lugares del norte de la isla.
  Sigrid es una anfitriona de 10, muy amable y atenta. Sin duda repetiremos, nuestra estancia en Tenerife fue muy agradable sobre todo gracias a la estancia, porque pudimos descansar y desconectar 🤩

  Le studio de Sigrid est charmant, entièrement rénové, clair, spacieux, fonctionnel et très propre. La cuisine est bien équipée, il y a un grille pain et une superbe bouilloire lumineuse. Le lit est grand et très confortable. On accède au studio par une cour intérieure privative qui offre de ce fait une grande terrasse. On a vraiment de l'espace vital en toute intimité. Parking attenant à la maison.
  La maison de Sigrid est située sur les hauteurs d'Orotavia, ville pleine de charme où il faut prendre le temps de flâner.
  
  Sigrid est vraiment adorable. Nous ne l'avons rencontrée qu'au moment du départ mais nous avons communiqué par whatsapp à son initiative dès notre arrivée. Elle vous envoie toutes les informations et photos nécessaires pour trouver sa maison du premier coup. Elle répond instantanément à toute question avec beaucoup de gentillesse et d'humour en français ou en anglais (google traduction). Elle nous a indiqué une bonne Guachinche, sorte de cantine vigneronne (Los Gomes) où on mange copieusement pour 13€ vin de la maison compris 🙃.
  Nous recommandons très sincèrement le studio de Sigrid!
