You know what struck me first about Villa La Perla? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street in Candelaria where you can actually hear the ocean at night – something you don’t get in the busier parts of Tenerife. I mean, Candelaria itself isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot like Puerto de la Cruz or Los Cristianos, but honestly, that’s what makes this place special. You’re staying in a real Canarian town where locals still outnumber visitors, and the pace just feels… well, more authentic.

The villa itself has that warm, lived-in elegance that four-star places sometimes miss – you know how some hotels feel like they’re trying too hard? This isn’t that. The rooms have these gorgeous tiled floors that stay cool even in summer (trust me, you’ll appreciate this), and the windows actually open wide to let in those Atlantic breezes. The staff here genuinely seems to care about getting things right – check-in was smooth, they remembered my name throughout the stay, and when I mentioned I was hoping to catch the early morning light at the Basilica, they made sure I knew about the quiet path that cuts through the old town. Speaking of which, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Basilica de Candelaria, which is pretty incredible if you’ve never seen it lit up at dawn.

What really won me over though was how they handle the details. Parking is included (and protected, which matters more than you’d think), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property, and the breakfast – well, it’s not just continental stuff from boxes. They do proper Spanish tortilla, local cheeses, and this tomato bread that I’m still thinking about. The pool area gets morning sun but has shade by afternoon, perfect for those brutal August days. One small thing – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re sensitive to noise, maybe pack earplugs, though honestly the neighborhood is pretty quiet anyway. The location puts you about twenty minutes from Santa Cruz if you need city amenities, but close enough to the coastal path that you can walk to some really spectacular viewpoints. That 9.6 rating? I get it – it’s the kind of place that does everything well without any single thing being over-the-top spectacular, which somehow ends up feeling more impressive than flashier hotels that miss the basics.

  What a cozy and quiet place where you can relax with your own pace (away from turistic packed places) but still you have a good position to see all beauty on island. You need a ca. Everything was clean, the pool was perfect for refresh (open from 9-18), beautiful plants around everywhere. The apartment has everything what you need for your stay. The cute bonus was the 2 dalmatians doggy- Duke and Percy 🙂

  Beautiful villa , stylish interior, well equipped kitchen. There are plenty of space to work and to rest .Fast WiFi , there is a place for barbecue.

  Great accommodation, the location is nice and easily accessible from both airports in Tenerife. Our apartment had everything we needed, well equipped kitchen, nice little terrace to eat outside, spacious bathroom and super comfortable bed. The pool area is very cozy, nice for relaxing. Carolyn and Christian are great hosts, we had a really nice time at Villa La Perla.

  Beautiful apartments, very clean and stylish. The villa's grounds are well-kept, and the pool is heated. The hosts are very friendly. Thank you for the pleasant stay!
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen is really missing a microwave.
  Keep in mind that this is not a tourist area, so there's nowhere to go for a walk nearby. The nearest good beach is Teresitas, which is a 30-minute drive away. We visited in January, and during this time of year, it’s veeeery windy in this part of the island. So even though the pool is heated, we didn’t swim in it at all because of the strong winds. In winter, it’s better to stay in the southern part of the island.
