You know what struck me first about The Valley View Apartments? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet little street – Calle Hermanas de la Caridad – that most tourists never find, which honestly is part of its charm. I mean, you’re still right in the heart of La Orotava, but you’re not dealing with the constant foot traffic that hits the main squares. When I walked out in the morning, I could hear the church bells from the nearby parishes echoing off the colonial buildings, and there’s something really authentic about starting your day like that instead of with traffic noise.

The apartments themselves feel more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed place than a typical hotel setup. The Valley View name isn’t just marketing fluff either – from the upper floors you actually get these glimpses of the Orotava Valley that’ll make you stop whatever you’re doing and just stare for a minute. The interiors are thoughtfully done without being fussy about it, and I appreciated that they’ve managed to keep some of that Canarian character without making it feel like a theme park. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too, which matters when you want to grab fresh produce from the local market (there’s a great one just a few streets over on Thursdays) and not eat out every single meal.

What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. La Orotava isn’t one of those resort towns where everything shuts down at 6 PM – there’s actual life happening around you. I’d walk down to the Plaza de la Constitución in the evenings and find locals playing dominos, kids running around, the whole scene. And honestly, the staff here gets that – they’re not trying to keep you trapped in some tourist bubble. They’ll tell you which tapas place has the best papas arrugadas (it’s not the obvious one on the main drag) and when the best time is to visit the botanical gardens without the cruise ship crowds. The 4-star rating feels right – it’s comfortable and well-maintained without being stuffy, and that 9 rating from guests makes sense when you actually stay there. You’re getting the real La Orotava experience, just with a really nice base to come back to at the end of the day.

  Parking is close to the building, which is a great starting point for exploring the island. The apartment had everything we needed, and a bonus was the AC, which was really good for warming the place up a bit. It can get cold during the night. The host was great and the communication via app was almost instant and also included a lot of travel/island tips and things to do. There were enough pillows and they were really good and everything else you need.

  It is a very spacious and beautifully decorated flat with a nice balcony. The location is right at the center and very close to the old town and beautiful gardens.
