You know what caught me off guard about The Palms Golf del Sur? It’s actually got this lived-in elegance that most resort hotels completely miss. I mean, sure, it’s technically a 4-star place, but honestly, it feels more thoughtful than half the 5-star chains I’ve stayed at. The lobby doesn’t assault you with marble and chandeliers – instead, there’s this warm, almost residential vibe with local artwork and furniture that looks like someone actually picked it out rather than ordered it from a hotel catalog.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know Tenerife at all. San Miguel de Abona isn’t touristy in that suffocating Costa Adeje way, but you’re still only about 15 minutes from the airport (which is clutch when you’re dragging luggage). What really sold me was stepping out onto the terrace and realizing you can actually see the golf course weaving through these dramatic volcanic ridges – it’s one of those views that makes you pause your scrolling and just… look. The pools are decent sized, not those tiny plunge pools some places try to pass off, and there’s usually a good breeze coming up from the coast that keeps things from getting too stuffy, even in summer.

Staff-wise, they seem to get that balance between helpful and not hovering. Check-in was smooth, parking’s free (thank god), and the rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully updated” – like, they’ve clearly been refreshed recently but without that sterile renovation smell. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly can’t be said for every place down here. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you’re far enough from the main TF-1 highway that you don’t get that constant traffic hum, but close enough that getting to Los Cristianos or even up to Teide is totally doable for day trips. The restaurant does solid Canarian dishes alongside the usual international stuff, and their gofio ice cream is legitimately good (I was skeptical, but it works). Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy amenities or Instagram-perfect infinity pools, but if you want somewhere that feels authentic to the island while still being genuinely comfortable – and where an 8.8 rating actually makes sense when you’re there – The Palms delivers on that promise.

  This is a very spacious property and it has a homely feel. The beds, and sofas are very comfortable and the kitchen has lots of quality utensils. The bathrooms are large with great showers.

  We loved everything about the property. It was very spacious, so well equipped, & very comfortable. Right by the pools on the complex. .Easy distance to San Blas, Los Abrigos & El Médano, only a short bus ride away or mins in a taxi.

  A very well furnished apartment with all the appliances needed for a comfortable stay, this includes kitchen equipment etc. A very helpful handbook was supplied as well. Part of a very well kept resort, with a choice of 4 different swimming pools and on site bar/cafeteria.

  What can you say? One of the best stays in Tenerife. The house is equipped with practically everything. One of the best price-quality ratio. There is a swimming pool and restaurant on site, a pharmacy, a doctor and a bus stop nearby. Peace in the neighbourhood. The only place not for people who are disturbed by landing planes. I highly recommend it.
