You know what caught me off guard about The Palm Villa? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street in Icod de los Vinos, and I mean really tucked away – I drove past Camino La Suerte twice before spotting the subtle entrance. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. This isn’t your typical beachside resort with neon signs and crowds of tourists snapping selfies. It’s more like staying at a friend’s really nice place, if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious thing for palm trees.

The location is sort of genius when you think about it. You’re about a ten-minute walk from the black volcanic beaches (and trust me, those dark sands are something else entirely), but you’re also right in the heart of wine country. I spent half my time wandering through the local bodegas and the other half just sitting on the villa’s terrace, watching the Atlantic stretch out forever. The staff – well, they actually know the area, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward this little family-run restaurant down the hill that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being the best meal of my trip.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The rooms have these thick walls that keep everything surprisingly quiet, even when the island’s trade winds pick up at night. There’s decent parking right on-site, which is a godsend because finding a spot in the old town can be… well, let’s just say it builds character. The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but everything’s local – the cheese, the honey, even the coffee beans come from somewhere within a few kilometers. I actually ended up buying a bag of that coffee to take home. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re expecting a massive pool or a spa, this isn’t that kind of place. It’s more about the setting, the authenticity, and honestly, the sense that you’ve discovered something most tourists miss entirely. The 8.4 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well.

  Amazing views. Lovely grounds and a great size pool. You could have an amazing pool party here but we were just a family of 4. There is a great town up the hill and the beach down the hill, both walking distance but the hills are steep! Also this is proper Spain not like the resorts to the south.
  
  What could be improved: The property is a bit dark and dated but doesn’t matter if you spend your time outside. There is no dishwasher. Also to note the pool is fresh!

  Heerlijk groot huis met veel tuin/boomgaard om te ontdekken. De buitenkeuken en het overdekte terras is geweldig. Zelf bij slechter weer met de schermen naar Bende en de kachel/bbq aan zit je daar fantastisch.
  
  What could be improved: Af en toe een beetje achterstallig onderhoud, zoals een lamp kapot of de douchekop standaard die los is, maar niets om je echt zorgen over te maken.

  La parte exterior de la casa: la terraza, la piscina, las vistas, el entorno.. muy bien
  El primer día llegamos muy tarde a la casa, con las tiendas ya cerradas. El propietario muy amablemente nos hizo la compra, fue un gran favor
  
  What could be improved: La vivienda: era pequeña, los 3 sofá camas eran super incomodos. El agua dentro de la casa no tenia presión y para ducharnos era un incordio.
  Un día con nuestro coche de alquiler (con seguro a todo riesgo) le dimos a un tiesto aparcando. El tiesto no presentaba marcas, nuestro coche si. No dimos aviso a la propiedad ya que no lo vimos necesario. Nuestro asombro fue cuando al entregar las llaves de la casa, el propietario, de manera brusca nos exigió los papeles del seguro y nos enseñó una foto hecha a nuestro coche, sin nuestro permiso, un día que supuestamente habían venido a cambiar la lavadora (que se había estropeado dos días antes).
