Hotel Description
You know what really caught me off guard about The Circular Villa? The name actually makes perfect sense once you see it – this place has this gorgeous curved architecture that feels completely different from the typical boxy hotels you find everywhere. It’s tucked away on Calle Acentejo in La Matanza de Acentejo, which honestly I’d never heard of before booking, but turns out to be this perfect little spot in northern Tenerife where you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of the south but you’re still close enough to everything that matters.
The jacuzzi situation is legit – I mean, it’s not just some tiny hot tub thrown in as an afterthought. They’ve positioned it so you can actually see the vineyards rolling out below while you soak, and if you time it right around sunset (which happens pretty late in summer, around 8:30), the whole valley just glows. The hiking trails start basically from the hotel grounds, and the staff actually knows the routes – not just the obvious ones everyone does, but the smaller paths that wind through the actual working vineyards. I spent a morning following this trail that loops around to where you can see Mount Teide in the distance, and honestly, I only passed maybe three other people the whole time. The volcanic soil gives everything this really distinctive smell that’s sort of earthy and mineral-y, especially after the morning dew burns off.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep that local feel without being rustic to the point of inconvenience. The rooms are actually modern and comfortable – good water pressure, reliable WiFi, proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re trying to sleep off jet lag). Parking is right there, which matters more than you’d think when you’re navigating these narrow mountain roads. The 8.9 rating makes sense because they’ve got the basics down solid, but it’s those little touches that stick with you. Like, they keep local wines from the surrounding vineyards stocked, and the woman at reception (I think her name was Carmen?) actually grew up in the area and gave me this whole rundown of which bodegas were worth visiting and which ones were just tourist traps. The breakfast includes local cheeses and this incredible honey from somewhere nearby that I’m still thinking about months later. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because you realize you’re actually relaxing for the first time in ages – and in Tenerife, that’s saying something since the island can get pretty hectic during peak season.

Pictures don't do justice to how great the view from the villa is. It was fantastic to have breakfast and relax in the jacuzzi looking at Teide. There was more than enough space for us four and the villa was well equipped. We were always able reach the host when needed.
