Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about The Blue Corner Apartments? The name actually makes sense when you see it – there’s this lovely blue-tiled corner entrance that catches your eye as you walk up Camino Sitio Litre. I mean, it’s not the most obvious street to find if you’re new to Puerto de la Cruz, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this place feel like a bit of a local secret.

The thing about staying here is that you’re properly in a residential area, not stuck in some tourist bubble. You’ll hear actual Spanish conversations drifting from balconies in the evening, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks down that the locals queue up at every morning – I ended up going there daily for these incredible pastries that cost practically nothing. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious (I had way more room than I expected for a 4-star place), and whoever designed them actually thought about how people live. Like, there’s proper counter space in the kitchen, decent water pressure in the shower, and – this sounds small but it matters – outlets where you actually need them for charging phones.

What really won me over was the terrace situation. Most of the units have these generous balconies where you can sit with morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. You’re close enough to the old town that you can walk to Plaza del Charco in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you don’t get the late-night party noise that can drive you crazy in the more central hotels. The staff here seem to actually live in Puerto de la Cruz – they gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist spots, and when I mentioned I was looking for a good pharmacy, the woman at reception drew me a little map showing exactly which streets to take. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Puerto de la Cruz), but there’s usually space on the street if you’re patient, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be some fancy resort, but it gets the important stuff right and gives you a genuine feel for what it’s like to actually live in this part of Tenerife for a while.

    Staff great, maybe a little overworked because unfortunately there was a situation when during our absence someone from the staff left the terrace open. Apart from that the cleaning was great, the bed linen was changed, our requests were met. There is a Smart TV but the wi-fi is a little weak. The bed is comfortable, but the sofa bed is worse, as is the case with sofas. For this price it was still great! In March it was quite easy to get a parking space.

    Great location, walking distance to the beach, botanical garden and harbour. The kids loved the whirpool and the garden. The communication was very good and help was always there when we needed it. Small but lovely and totally enough for a family of 4.

    My stay was enjoyable! The owner was welcoming, I also liked the suggestions on where I could go to explore the island being sent daily. The apartment was pretty clean, the cleaning services also timely and on request. Good that there's no keys and the apartment is accessed by the password, I didn't worry about losing the keys on the beach. The location is nice – close to public transportation, shops and also it was okay to find parking for the car nearby.

    What could be improved: What I didn’t like about Blue Corner Apartments was that the toilet and sink had an unusual smell for the first day or two, although it eventually faded. The washing machine was a bit weak, which made doing laundry less efficient, but it generally got the job done. Additionally, the windows were not the most secure, and we noticed that sometimes after the cleaning service, the windows were left unlocked even though we had locked them before leaving. These issues detracted slightly from an otherwise pleasant experience.
