You know what struck me first about The Blue Anchor? It’s not just the name – they really mean it when they say “spectacular sea view.” I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of places that promise ocean views and deliver a sliver of blue between two buildings, but this one actually delivers. The location in Callao Salvaje is honestly perfect if you want that authentic Tenerife vibe without the tourist chaos of Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas. It’s tucked into this quieter stretch of coast where you can actually hear the waves at night, and the Complejo el Ancla development feels more like a proper neighborhood than a tourist trap.

The thing about this place is it gets the details right – and I’m talking about the stuff that matters when you’re actually living there for a week. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward (no upselling or lengthy presentations), and honestly, the staff seemed to know their stuff about the local area. They pointed me toward this little path that leads down to the rocky coastline where locals go swimming – something I never would’ve found on my own. The rooms have that solid four-star feel without being stuffy, and the sea-facing balconies are where you’ll spend your evenings with a drink watching the sunset paint everything orange and pink. I stayed there in late September, which turned out to be perfect timing – still warm enough for swimming but past the peak summer crowds.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even when it’s busy. The layout of the complex means you’re not dealing with slamming doors or hallway conversations at all hours. Parking was never an issue either, which is worth mentioning because that can be a real headache in some parts of Tenerife. The walk to the nearest restaurants and shops is totally manageable – maybe five minutes down toward the marina area where there’s this excellent little tapas place the locals frequent (I’m blanking on the name, but it’s the one with the blue awnings). And if you’re into hiking, the coastal trail that runs along this part of the island is right there – perfect for morning walks before it gets too hot. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it nails what it promises. For anyone wanting a genuine Canarian experience with proper comfort and those views that make you stop scrolling through your phone, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

  Great view and location. Lots of good restaurants and a nice beach nearby. The apartment itself is spacious and has everything you need for a several days stay. Friendly and helpful host.
  Additionally, extra towels are provided (for the beach/swimming pool).

  The apartment is spacious and has a great balcony overlooking the sea. It is really close to the beach and the swimming pool is a nice bonus. There is a parking on site

  Spectacular sea view, good restaurants around, nearby good beach. Recommended restaurants Dolphin, Indian restaurant. A supermarket is also nearby.
  
  What could be improved: The problem I have experienced, that I have been heavily bitten by bed bugs, but the host of the apartment said that nobody ever complained about that. Interestingly enough that my husband has not been bitten by them. This is also to note that this area of the island is infected by cockroaches. The others say that the whole island. I have not seen any in the property, but saw a big cockroach on the street.
