You know what caught me off guard about The Black House? The name makes it sound way more dramatic than it actually is – it’s this charming little place tucked away on Calle Madrid that feels more like staying at a friend’s stylish apartment than a typical hotel. I mean, Costa Adeje can be pretty touristy and overwhelming, but this street is surprisingly quiet, just far enough from the main drag that you’re not hearing scooters and tour groups at all hours.

The whole vibe here is honestly refreshing for a 3-star place. The owners (I think they’re local, but don’t quote me on that) have clearly put thought into making it feel authentic rather than just another cookie-cutter accommodation. The rooms aren’t huge – let’s be real about that – but they’re done up with this modern Spanish aesthetic that actually works. Dark wood accents, clean lines, and the kind of lighting that makes you look good in selfies, if that’s your thing. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to walk to all the restaurants and bars along the coast, but far enough up from the beach chaos that you can actually sleep without earplugs.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they get there – you’re about a 10-minute walk from Playa del Duque, which is honestly one of the better beaches in the area, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. There’s this little grocery store practically next door where the locals shop, and if you head just a few blocks inland, you hit the real Adeje where people actually live and work. The staff at Black House seem to get this – they’re not pushing the usual tourist trap recommendations, and when I asked about getting to La Caleta for sunset (which, by the way, you absolutely should do), they gave me the local bus route instead of trying to sell me an expensive taxi ride. Check-in was smooth, parking isn’t a nightmare like some places in the area, and the whole experience felt more personal than I expected. That 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it nails what it’s going for.

  Apartment located in a quite residential area. Amazing view from the balcony, apartment furnished with very good taste, bright and clean house. The host Gianluca provided clear instructions on how to check in/check out, and was available to provide any information and support. Easy to find a parking close to the house.
