Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in the Canary Islands, and Terraza de Santa Cruz honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place because it’s reasonably priced and the photos look decent, then you show up and it’s actually… really good? That’s exactly what happened here. The building sits right on Avenida de Venezuela, which – I’ll be honest – sounds like it might be crazy busy, but it’s actually this perfect sweet spot where you’re close to everything without being in the middle of tourist chaos.

The thing that struck me first was how the staff genuinely seemed to know their stuff about Santa Cruz. When I asked about getting to the Auditorio (you know, that crazy swoopy white building everyone photographs), they didn’t just point me toward a taxi – they told me about the walking route along the waterfront that takes maybe fifteen minutes and passes some great little bars. Actually, that’s kind of the vibe of this whole place. It feels like they’re locals who happen to run a hotel, not hotel people who happen to work in Santa Cruz. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure – but there are these little touches that made me think someone actually cares. Like, they stock local coffee in the room, and the balcony furniture is actually comfortable enough to sit in for more than five minutes.

What really won me over though was the location once I started exploring. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Plaza de España, but you’re also weirdly close to some genuinely local spots. There’s this tiny bar called El Rincón just around the corner where I ended up having the best papas arrugadas of my trip – and I mean, I tried them everywhere. The hotel’s also perfectly positioned if you want to catch the ferry to La Gomera (something I didn’t even know I wanted to do until the front desk mentioned it). Parking was surprisingly painless too, which anyone who’s driven in Santa Cruz will tell you is basically a small miracle. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, so you can actually sleep with the windows open if you want that ocean breeze. I stayed here during February, which they told me is one of their busier months because of Carnival, but even then it never felt crowded or rushed. Honestly, for a 9.2 rating, I was expecting maybe some pretentious touches or inflated prices, but this place just… works. It’s the kind of hotel you’d recommend to someone without worrying they might not like it, you know?

  Everything was well organized, the house was really clean and the terrace was really nice. The house has everything that you need, a dishwasher with tablets and a washing machine. Also in de kitchen we had all the supplies what we need. It has towels, clean douches every room had an seperate shower. The host was nice and gave us clear instructions on how to enter te building en how to leave again. I would definitely recommend staying here.
  
  What could be improved: It’s not about the property but good to know: if you’re coming with the car. The parking spaces is dramatic so you need a little bit of luck there.

  It is a beautiful totally new apartment at the last floor with a big terrasse where one can admire the views on the mountains and the sea. Esther was very reactive and friendly and solved little problems immediately.
  The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, there are big cupboards in every bedroom.
  The apartment is well connected with the city centre – tram and buses.

  The property was very clean, great value, excellent room distribution, location was centric, the "Terraza" great place for an evening night cap with a great Ribera del Duero wine. Despite being in a busy street, it was quiet enough in the evenings. We really enjoyed the place.
  Host was easy to communicate with, very helpful and they responded to our queries soon enough.
  Nearby there are a few restaurants (we did not try any). But it is great that across the street you have a nice supermarket for anything your little heart desires. The entrance to it can be easily overlooked but the best reference, is that it is located right next to great place to buy fresh bread If I recall the name correctly of the bread store is either "Horno de Pan" or "Pan de Horno"
  Transportation other than having a car is easy. Taxis go by with certain frequency and just around the corner you can take the Tram (Tren Ligero) to the center of the city and other places once you know your way around.
  
  What could be improved: My comfort evaluation was not excellent due to the lack of Air Conditioning. I cannot imagine spending time in this place in summer (June/July/August) without A/C. There were ceiling fans that helped because we were lucky that the weather and the outside temperature helped have an Ok the temperature inside the apartment; however, when there was no wind, things could get a little uncomfortable. A few nights it was a little hot for our comfort.
  Parking is another big issue. It is difficult (not impossible) to find a parking spot on the street near by. You have to go around many times before you find one spot, specially during evening times were everyone else is returning home. Since, the location is centric and accessible, Taxis are easy to find.
  These two issues resulted in an overall evaluation of 9 and not a 10. Other than these two issues, the place is really excellent!!!
  Another issue which did not play on the evaluation of the place. The stove is very sensitive to the sun. The kitchen is facing east, when the sun hits the stove, it thinks is it hot (it really gets hot with the sun rays) then it shuts down. We had to improvise by hanging a towel on the window to provide shade to the stove and be able to cook breakfast. You literally have to cook breakfast wearing sun block, a hat, etc…(Is like sun bathing, so depending how you look at it, it could be great!) I strongly suggest this be looked at by either a simple shade or using tinted paper

  Me atrevo a decir que el mejor alojamiento vacacional en el que me he alojado, un apartamento increíble, limpio, cómodo, luminoso, una terraza increíble, cerca de todo, dos panaderías justo debajo, un supermercado amplio, una pizzería super rica y barata…increíble, y Pablo que me gestionó la estancia encantador y super atento, tengo amigos en Tenerife y volveré para verlos, volveré a este apartamento seguro 100%
  De hecho no es el mítico apartamento que ves en las fotos chulísimo y cuando llegas es otra cosa, al revés, es mucho mejor que en las fotos (y eso que ya en las fotos es precioso)
