So I stumbled across this place called Terraza con vistas mar/montaña while exploring Buenavista del Norte – honestly, the name pretty much tells you everything you need to know. It’s right on Avenida Constitución, which is basically the main drag through this sleepy corner of Tenerife’s northwest coast, and wow, they weren’t kidding about those views. You get this incredible dual perspective where you can literally see the ocean stretching toward La Palma on one side and the dramatic volcanic peaks of Teno Rural Park on the other. I mean, most places promise views and deliver a parking lot, but this actually delivers.

The whole setup is refreshingly unpretentious – it’s a 3-star place that knows exactly what it is and does it really well. The terrace (which, you know, “terraza” and all) becomes this perfect spot around sunset where you’ll find yourself just sitting there with a drink, watching the light change on both the water and the mountains. The staff genuinely seems to care about the place, which you notice in small ways – like how they’ll tell you the best times to catch the local bus to Garachico or warn you that the winds can pick up in the afternoons. Parking was actually pretty easy, which is saying something for this part of the island where most streets feel like they were designed for donkeys, not rental cars.

What really sold me on this place was how it captures that authentic Canarian vibe without trying too hard. Buenavista del Norte isn’t touristy like the south – it’s where locals still outnumber visitors, and you’ll hear more Spanish than German or English walking around. The hotel sits perfectly in this environment, close enough to the coast that you can hear the waves on quiet nights, but elevated enough that you’re not dealing with the humidity and salt spray constantly. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting legitimate mountain and ocean views, decent amenities, and that rare feeling of discovering somewhere that hasn’t been completely overrun yet. Plus, you’re about a 20-minute drive from some of the island’s best hiking trails in Teno, and the drive itself is half the attraction – those winding roads through the laurel forests are absolutely stunning, especially in the morning when the clouds are still hanging around the peaks.
