You know what caught me off guard about Terraza al Mar? It’s actually got this perfect spot right on Juan Rodrígo de Triana street where you can see the ocean without being smack in the middle of tourist chaos. I mean, Güimar isn’t exactly the first place people think of when they’re planning their Tenerife trip, but honestly – that’s exactly why this place works so well.

The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to hear the waves (especially if you snag one of the sea-facing rooms), but you’re not dealing with the crowds that swarm places like Playa de las Américas. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – the staff actually remembered my name the next morning, which doesn’t happen often at four-star places. The rooms are what you’d expect, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable, with those little touches that show someone’s paying attention. The terrace situation is where they really nail it though – you can grab your morning coffee and watch the sunrise over the Atlantic without fighting for space. It gets a bit breezy up there in the evenings, so bring a light jacket if you’re planning to linger.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel feels connected to the actual town rather than being some isolated resort bubble. You can walk to local spots for dinner (try the seafood place two blocks down – can’t remember the name but it’s got blue shutters), and the Güimar pyramids are literally a ten-minute drive if you’re into that archaeological stuff. The parking situation is decent, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to explore the island. The 9.4 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the coast, but everything just… works. The WiFi actually functions, the hot water stays hot, and the cleaning staff doesn’t wake you up at 7 AM. Sometimes that’s honestly all you need. The pool area gets pretty quiet after the German tourists head out for their hiking adventures around 8 AM, so if you’re more of a lazy vacation person, you’ll have it mostly to yourself until late afternoon.

  Das Appartment hat eine tolle Lage mit ungehindertem Blick auf den Sonnenaufgang über Gran Canaria! Die riesengroße Terrasse mit Tisch, Loungeecke und Liegen!‘👍
  Der Platz unter der Wohnung ist belebt, nette Lokale aber spätestens um 23:00 ist absolute Ruhe!
  Gleich daneben ein wirklich schöner Strand(für Tenerife sehr ungewöhnlich)
  In der Küche ist alles vorhanden, was man für ein nettes Abendessen braucht. Sogar einen Backofen!

  Ein Geschirrspüler wäre noch top, aber ok, man hat ja Zeit im Urlaub

  Ausblick aufs Meer ein Traum, riesige Terrasse, großer Kühl-Gefrierschrank, super bequemes Bett, exzellenter und super schneller Kontakt zu den Vermietern!
  
  What could be improved: Herd und Waschmaschine sehr veraltet, aber alles funktionierte einwandfrei. Zudem hat es abends manchmal nach Frittierfett von der unten liegenden Taperia gerochen.
