You know what caught me off guard about the Tenerife Island Oasis? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street – Jesus Dominguez Grillo – which honestly sounds way more intimidating than it is. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the madness of Los Cristianos beach, but when you’re up on that fourth floor balcony, it feels like you’ve got your own little slice of the island. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in this part of town, and I loved how the morning light just floods through those big windows. There’s this gentle hum of local life below – kids playing football in the courtyard, neighbors chatting on their balconies – but it never gets overwhelming, even during the peak summer months when Los Cristianos can feel like a bit of a zoo.

What really sells this place is the location know-how you get. The building sits right in that sweet spot where you can walk to Playa de Los Cristianos in flip-flops (seriously, it’s that close), but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore the real Tenerife. The bus stop for the TITSA lines is maybe two blocks away, which locals will tell you is gold – you can get to Santa Cruz, the Teide cable car, or even over to Puerto de la Cruz without dealing with rental car headaches. And honestly, the neighborhood has this authentic feel that you miss when you’re staying in one of those massive resort complexes. There’s a little Mercadona supermarket about a three-minute walk away, plus this family-run tapas place around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign but serves the best papas arrugadas I had on the entire island.

The apartment itself hits that perfect balance of having everything you actually need without feeling sterile or overly fancy. The kitchen’s got enough gear to make proper meals (which you’ll want to do – the local market has incredible fresh fish), and the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s comfortable and clean, and the air conditioning is a godsend during those August afternoons. The building’s got character too – you can tell it’s been here for decades, with these thick walls that keep things cool and surprisingly quiet. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that corporate rigmarole you get at chain hotels. The only minor thing – and this is pretty typical for the area – is that parking can be a bit of a puzzle during high season, but honestly, once you’re settled in this neighborhood, you barely need a car anyway.

  Location close to restaurants, shops, beach, promenades.
  15 minute walk to bus station.
  Lift in building to 4th floor apartment is quick and efficient.

  The kitchen useful and resourced fairly well. Great to have fridge / freezer hob and oven.
  Balcony useful … Just a nice glimpse of the sea but nothing too exciting. Great height to get a breeze through the whole flat, however.

  What could be improved: Horrid smell from washing machine when draining through the shower and left a black residue … Probably needs a good clean and service I guess.
  I had to wash the dishes before using them – obviously hadn't been checked by the cleaner from the last occupants.

  What could be improved: – Seized drain in a shower was annoying, since one had to pause running water while taking shower to avoid overflow. Also, dirty water from washing machine rinsing rushes through the drain back into shower, which smells really bad.
  – There is no solid-glass in the bedroom window, the frame has just slats, which lets a lot of noise & light in from the hallway/elevator area. If your neighbours come home late from the party or they have an early flight and they move around with luggage at 4 AM, you will wake up multiple times during the night.
