You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Tejita Playa on Calle Pizarro – honestly, the address made it sound like some cramped apartment building situation. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location is sort of tucked away in this quieter part of La Tejita, which I mean, if you’ve been to the more touristy spots around here, you’ll appreciate how refreshing that is. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Playa de La Tejita, and I’m talking about the good part of the beach where the locals go, not the overcrowded sections. The natural reserve area of Montaña Roja is right there too – you can see that distinctive red mountain from some of the rooms, and it’s pretty spectacular at sunset.

What really got me about this place was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between being polished enough for a proper vacation but not so fancy that you feel weird walking around in flip-flops. The staff actually knows the area, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that is. When I asked about good spots for lunch away from the tourist traps, they pointed me toward this little place in Granadilla de Abona that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are clean and well-maintained – I stayed in one of the upper floor units and the soundproofing was solid, which matters because Spanish neighborhoods can get lively in the evenings (in a good way, but still). The Wi-Fi actually works, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. Small things, but they add up.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t your typical resort experience where everything’s handed to you on a silver platter. You’re going to want to rent a car or at least be comfortable with figuring out the local bus routes if you want to explore beyond the immediate area. The TF-1 highway is close enough that you can get to the airport in about twenty minutes, or head up to Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas when you want more action. But honestly, the whole appeal of staying here is that you’re in this more authentic part of Tenerife where you can actually experience some local flavor. The nearby villages have proper Spanish life happening – markets, family-run restaurants, that sort of thing. Plus, if you’re into hiking or just want to escape the crowds, the terrain around here is gorgeous and way less trampled than the northern parts of the island. With an 8.8 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after spending time there, I get why people keep coming back.

  The bed was continuent and the entire apartment complex was well kept. Dishes were sparse, but overall we didn’t miss anything. The noise from the nearby airport was not a problem as there are no flights at night. There was enough storage space, including a large wardrobe and small tables and boards to put personal stuff on. The location was perfect, close to a beautiful beach, bus stop, good supermarket and some nice restaurants.
  
  What could be improved: We would have liked an extra blanket or two. Fortunately we had brought sleeping bags which we had to use at night. It was too shady and windy to use the balcony. There were not enough loungers to stay near the pool in the sun.

  The apartment is well equipped for holidays, is really close to la tejita beach, restaurants in the area are quite decent, the supermarket is 5 mins walking down the road, the apartment complex is very quite in the night time so perfect for relaxing and having and decent sleep. We love it, definitely coming back

  Lovely welcome from Pedro! Great facilities, everything you needed in a place. Lovely pool. Close to a supermarket and restaurants. 40 min walk from Los Abrigos and el Médano. La tejita beach 5 minute walk. Very quiet. Thank you.

  Las condiciones del apartamento son inmejorables, fabuloso.
  
  What could be improved: Todo está perfecto. Lo unico es que la cama para mí gusto tiene un colchón blando y yo por problemas de espalda, lo necesito duro. Pero solo es una preferencia (y muy personal) porque las instalaciones son magníficas.
