You know what? When I first walked into Sunshine Escape, I thought I’d accidentally stumbled into someone’s really well-appointed apartment rather than a hotel room. The place sits on the second floor of this residential building in Adeje – and honestly, that’s actually part of its charm. You’re not dealing with the usual tourist hotel chaos, but you’re still getting those ocean views that make you stop mid-conversation and just stare.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know the area. Calle Paises Bajos might not ring a bell if you’re new to Tenerife, but it’s tucked away from the main tourist strips while still being walkable to everything you’d actually want to do. I mean, you can hear the ocean from the windows, but you’re not paying those beachfront prices or dealing with the constant foot traffic that comes with staying right on the sand. The building itself feels more like a local neighborhood spot – you’ll probably see Spanish families coming and going, which honestly gives you a better sense of actually being in Spain rather than just tourist-land.

What really got me was how much thought went into the small stuff. The check-in process is refreshingly straightforward (no long lines or pushy upsells), and the apartment-style setup means you’ve got actual space to spread out. The ocean view isn’t just a marketing gimmick either – depending on which unit you get, you’re looking out over the coastline toward La Gomera on clear days, and the sunsets are genuinely spectacular. I found myself timing my evenings around them, which… well, there are worse problems to have. The kitchen setup is actually functional too, not just decorative, so if you want to grab groceries from the local markets and cook something up, you can do that without fighting with tiny hotel appliances.

The 9.4 rating makes sense once you spend time there – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well. The Wi-Fi actually works (I was doing some remote work and had zero issues), the beds are comfortable without being overly fancy, and the whole place just feels… lived-in, in a good way. You’re not walking on eggshells worried about touching anything. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this part of Adeje – the streets are narrow and very Spanish in that regard – but there are spots if you’re patient, and honestly, you might find yourself walking more anyway since the weather’s usually perfect for it.

I keep coming back to how it feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, which is exactly what some trips call for. If you’re looking for a pool bar and room service, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to actually settle in somewhere with character, wake up to ocean views, and feel like you’re experiencing a bit of real Canarian life rather than just passing through it, Sunshine Escape delivers on that promise.

We were thrilled! The apartment is very cozy, has a wonderful atmosphere, is spotless, and offers an unforgettable view of the ocean. We are extremely happy with our choice and everything that surrounded us. Highly recommended! And yes, we’ll definitely be back next year!

  What an absolute gem! The views from the balcony are every bit as impressive as they look from the pictures, and the apartment makes great use of space. Super comfy bed and powerful shower which was very welcome after tackling the hills of Tenerife! Giovanni was very helpful and communicative at every stage of the booking process and during our stay.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately there was no base for the kettle but it wasn’t a huge problem as we just boiled water in a pan instead. Everything else was fabulous!

  Location was superb – not too far from the tourist area, but on a quiet street. The ocean view from the balcony was beautiful – lovely sunsets every night. Great communication from the host. I liked that there was a vacuum cleaner in the apartment as we stayed for 6 nights and the floor gets a bit messy during this time – I was able to clean up conveniently.
  
  What could be improved: The neighbor was chainsmoking on the balcony and we could smell the smoke in the apartment. Overall, the apartment was a little bit worn (like the shower handle was a bit broken), but everything worked.
