Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Sunset Star Orlando” on a booking site for a hotel in Adeje, I was confused as hell. Orlando? In Spain? Turns out it’s just a quirky name choice, but honestly, it kind of works once you get there. The place sits on Calle Antonio Navarro, which is this quiet residential street that most tourists never stumble across, and that’s actually its biggest selling point.

The hotel itself is pretty much what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s genuinely clean. What surprised me was how the staff actually remembers your name after day two, and I mean that in the best way possible. The lobby has this lived-in feeling that screams “local family business” rather than corporate chain, with mismatched furniture that somehow works together and always smells faintly of that Spanish floor cleaner that’s oddly comforting. Check-in was smooth – they handed me a proper key (not one of those plastic cards that never work) and actually drew a little map showing me the best route to Los Cristianos beach that avoids the tourist trap restaurants.

You know what really sold me on this place? The location is sort of perfect in an accidental way. You’re tucked away from the main Adeje chaos, but it’s literally a ten-minute walk to the beach promenade, and there’s this little Mercadona supermarket around the corner that locals use – you’ll spot it by the hand-written signs in Spanish only. The rooms are bigger than expected for the price point, with decent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on your roof. I stayed in a room facing the courtyard, which was actually quieter than the street-facing ones since Calle Antonio Navarro gets some early morning delivery trucks. The bathroom was renovated recently – you can tell because the tiles actually match and the shower pressure is surprisingly good for southern Spain.

The breakfast situation is pretty standard continental fare, but they make decent coffee and the staff will actually remember how you like it after a couple days. What I really appreciated was the practical stuff – reliable WiFi throughout the building, decent parking options nearby (though you’ll want to grab a spot early if you’re driving), and they’re totally fine with you bringing back groceries and using their ice machine. The whole “home away from home” tagline isn’t just marketing speak here – it genuinely feels like staying with distant relatives who happen to run a small hotel. With an 8.8 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after spending a week there, I get it. It’s not going to wow you with luxury, but it nails the basics while keeping you connected to actual local life rather than tourist bubble nonsense.
