You know what struck me first about Sunset over the Sea? The name actually delivers – and I mean that literally. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels with flowery names that promise views you’ll never see, but this place sits right on Avenida Santiago Puig where you can actually watch the sun drop into the Atlantic every evening. It’s one of those moments that makes you stop scrolling your phone and just… watch.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of Playa de las Americas without the chaos. You’re close enough to walk to the main strip – maybe five minutes to get to the buzzing bars and that massive shopping center everyone talks about – but far enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The street itself is pretty quiet, which surprised me given how central it is. There’s this little local café right around the corner that serves proper Spanish coffee (not the watered-down stuff you sometimes get in tourist areas), and the locals there were genuinely friendly, not just putting on the hospitality show.

What really sets this place apart though – and this is coming from someone who’s done the Canary Islands circuit more times than I care to admit – is how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy. The 4-star rating feels right; it’s polished and well-maintained, but you don’t feel like you need to whisper in the lobby. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which is rare these days. I had this one guy at the front desk who gave me the real scoop on which beaches get too crowded and when to hit the local markets. Check-in was smooth too – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation” like some places.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star, nothing revolutionary but thoughtfully done. Good blackout curtains (crucial if you’re trying to sleep off jet lag), decent water pressure, and the AC actually works without sounding like a helicopter landing. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed back ache. One small thing – and this might sound weird – but the WiFi actually reaches the balcony, which means you can sit out there with your morning coffee and still video call home if you need to.

What really won me over was the overall vibe of the place. It attracts a good mix of people – couples, some families, a few solo travelers like myself – but it skews toward folks who appreciate quality without needing to flash it around. The pool area gets lively but not rowdy, and there’s this easy-going atmosphere that makes it feel less like a hotel and more like a really nice place where you happen to be staying for a while. Honestly, with a 9 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but it exceeded that in small, genuine ways that you don’t always get even at pricier places.

  Bed was super comfy, nice big balcony with drying rack to hang clothes out. Kitchen was well stocked with fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and oven! shower was good, with a rainfall head and a separate smaller movable head too!
  
  What could be improved: the shower doors didn't close properly so water leaked out down the side – can tell this has been an ongoing thing due to the dampness of the cupboard next to the shower.

  Just back from a lovely week in Sunset over the Sea.
  Lov apartment with all facilties, Great location Close to all bars, restaurants and shops.
  Lovely big balcony with great views of the sea.
  Olga is a wonderful host, very helpful and even picked us up and dropped us back to the airport for a nominal fee.
  Would highly recommend this property and will definitely go back sometime.
  
  What could be improved: Was a bit noisy some nights as its on the street.
  Shower could do with an upgrade apart from that everything was brilliant.

  Very clean and tidy , excellent location with Costa Adeje and los cristianos within half hour walk either way along the beach , olga was great and arranged transport back to airport for a nominal fee and there was fruit , welcome chocolate etc in the room which had iron , hairdryer, plenty of towels , loo roll etc all there ! Would definitely recommend!

  This is a private apartment so it is very quiet. Also has a very quiet pool. Fantastic for a quiet getaway and it is also rite beside the bars and restaurants.
