You know what surprised me about Sunset Ocean View #2? Despite the slightly cheesy name, this place actually delivers on that ocean view promise – and I mean really delivers. Walking into the lobby on Paseo Las Americas, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot, but honestly, the location alone makes it punch above its weight. You’re literally steps from the waterfront in San Marcos, and if you’ve spent any time on this stretch of Tenerife’s coast, you know how rare it is to find decent accommodation this close to the water without paying resort prices.

The thing is, this isn’t some glossy hotel trying to be something it’s not. It’s comfortable, clean, and the staff actually seem to care – which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in smaller coastal towns. I mean, the rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re perfectly solid with proper air conditioning (crucial during summer months) and most importantly, those ocean-facing rooms give you this incredible view across to La Palma on clear days. The sound of waves is constant but not overwhelming – actually pretty soothing once you settle in. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays despite being on a fairly busy pedestrian area. The building’s set back just enough from the main foot traffic, so you get the convenience without the chaos.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking: parking can be a bit of a hunt during peak season (July-August gets crazy), but there’s usually space along the side streets if you don’t mind a short walk. Also, the breakfast isn’t included in most rates, but there’s this fantastic little café about two minutes down the paseo that does proper Spanish tortilla and decent coffee for half what hotels usually charge. The 8.8 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be luxury, it’s just doing the basics really well in a spot where you’ll actually want to spend time. For a 3-star place in this part of San Marcos, that’s honestly more than enough.

  We had an amazing stay! The apartment was spotless, beautifully maintained, and offered a stunning view. The location was perfect—convenient and close to everything we needed. The kitchen and bathroom were fully equipped with everything you could possibly need—and more! We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the complimentary bottle of wine, water, and sweets. The host was incredibly welcoming and communicative, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this place and would definitely return!

  Pretty good and quiet location, not full of tourists.
  
  What could be improved: The biggest drawback were the cockroaches in the apartment. I've seen 4, killed 2. At first we were blamed we brought them with us from the South or that they climbed through the open window, but later this was corrected that it was a broader issues with neighbouring apartments as well. The mattresses are pretty old and worn out so we had a lot of back pain.
  I am overall glad that the host was willing to partially refund us and work with us to solve this issue in a way. I believe that maybe the apartment was free of cockroaches before and this might have been a bad luck, nonetheless it was really disgusting to see them climbing on the kitchen counter, fridge and bathroom. If Booking would refund us fully we'd go somewhere else, but the Booking.com support was extremely slow to respond.
  This is our 3rd time in Canary Islands and we never had issues with cockroaches before.
