You know what struck me first about Sunnyland Lago Martianez 1? It’s actually right there on Calle Colombia – and I mean literally steps from the Lago Martianez complex, which honestly makes all the difference if you’re planning to spend time at those gorgeous saltwater pools. The location is sort of perfect because you’re close enough to hear the Atlantic waves but far enough back that you won’t get the constant ocean wind that can drive you crazy in Puerto de la Cruz.

The hotel itself has this relaxed, lived-in feel that I really appreciated. It’s a solid 4-star place, but not in that stuffy, over-polished way – more like someone actually thought about what travelers need. The rooms are comfortable (mine had a partial ocean view if I craned my neck just right), and honestly, the beds are better than what you’d expect. I mean, after walking around the old town all day checking out the Plaza del Charco and dodging tourists on Calle Quintana, you just want to sink into something decent. What really won me over was the staff – they actually know the area and will steer you toward the good local spots instead of the tourist traps. One guy at the front desk told me about this tiny tapas place tucked behind the church that I never would have found otherwise.

Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re positioned perfectly to experience Puerto de la Cruz like someone who actually lives here. Walk five minutes toward the coast and you’re at the Lago Martianez pools (designed by César Manrique, if you’re into that sort of thing). Walk ten minutes the other way and you’re in the heart of the old town where locals actually hang out. The morning sounds are lovely – birds from the nearby parks mixed with the distant ocean, though you’ll hear some traffic from the main roads during rush hour. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but the hotel staff helped me figure out the best spots. The whole experience just felt… well, authentic, I guess. Puerto de la Cruz can feel pretty touristy in the main squares, but staying on Calle Colombia puts you close enough to enjoy everything while still feeling like you’re in a real Spanish town. Plus, with that 9-star rating, you know other people have figured out what makes this place special – it’s got that perfect balance of comfort and character that’s getting harder to find these days.

  The accommodation was clean and perfectly located in the very heart of Puerto de la Cruz. Communication with the host was easy and fast. I recommend staying at this property.
  
  What could be improved: Parking lot is a 15 minute walk from the accommodation which is okay if you find a spot to park when checking-in and out when you need to move your suitcase.

  Everything. The location was very good next to the sea,shops,bars,pick up points for main island attractions yet not too loud and still had privacy.
  The apartment had an espresso machine with basic kitchen stuff. The apartment felt homely and was nicely decorated and had a very relaxing feel.

  Gute Lage. Touristische Ziele (essen/ einkaufen) alles Fußläufig zu erreichen. Parken ist am Hafen kostenlos möglich. Ca 15 Minuten zu Fuß. im Shoppingcenter kann man 14 Tage Tickets zum Parken erhalten. wenn man möchte. wir haben die Option am Hafen genutzt. das Appartement ist großzügig geschnitten und ist modern eingerichtet. gut geschlafen haben wir auch weil das Bett ein perfekten Härtegrad hat. also für uns. Geschirrspülmaschine und Waschmaschine und Besteck alles da und in gutem Zustand.
