Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sunny Island Paraiso Sur on Avenida Adeje, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. The building itself is pretty understated, tucked into this quiet stretch where you’re away from the main tourist chaos but still close enough to everything that matters in Adeje. Parking was actually easier than I thought it’d be, which… let’s face it, in this part of Tenerife that’s already a win.
What really got me though was how the staff just seemed to genuinely care. I mean, you know that feeling when people are being nice because it’s their job versus when they’re actually invested in making sure you have a good time? This was definitely the latter. The woman at check-in – I think her name was Carmen – she took the time to draw out little routes on a tourist map, showing me which beaches get crowded by 11am (spoiler: most of them) and which tapas spots the locals actually go to. That kind of insider knowledge you just can’t fake.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly – and honestly, the air conditioning is a godsend during those sweltering July afternoons. I stayed on the third floor and could hear a bit of street noise in the mornings, but it’s more the gentle hum of daily life than anything jarring. The shower pressure was surprisingly good, and they’d clearly renovated the bathrooms recently because everything felt fresh. What I really appreciated was the little balcony – not huge, but perfect for that morning coffee while watching Adeje wake up below.
You’re about a 15-minute walk from Playa de Fañabé, which is touristy but has decent facilities, or you can hop on the local bus (stops literally right outside) to reach some of the quieter beaches further south. The neighborhood itself has this nice residential feel – there’s a small supermarket two blocks down where you can grab essentials without paying resort prices, and this little bakery that opens at 7am with the most incredible magdalenas. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but honestly, with the food scene in Adeje, you’re better off exploring anyway.
I think what surprised me most was how relaxed everything felt. No pushy tours being sold in the lobby, no overcrowded pool areas (well, there isn’t really a pool to speak of), just a solid base for exploring this part of the island. The 9.6 rating makes total sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re the type who wants to spend your days out discovering Tenerife rather than lounging around a resort, and you appreciate genuine hospitality over flashy amenities, this place will definitely work for you.

Absolutely everything was catered for. The owner was really helpful with any enquiry we had. The apartment was really modern and had everything you needed. Area was nice but also has easy bus or taxi links to Costa Adeje, Las Americas and Los Cristianos if needed. We absolutely loved it, and can't wait to return.

I stayed here as a solo traveller for a week in February. The apartment itself is excellent and went beyond my expectations. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and modern. It was fitted with everything I needed. Communication with the host was very good and check in was easy. The pool was also very nice and the complex seems to be mostly filled with retirees so it was quiet and relaxed. The location I also found to be excellent. The number 471 bus stops right outside it so I found getting back and forth from the airport straightforward – get the 40 bus to Costa Adeje Station and switch to the 471 all the way to Hard Rock Hotel. There is a small beach behind the apartment which I found to be better suited for sunbathing as the beach is quite rocky but it is a lovely little nook for relaxing. There are plenty of restaurants and a small supermarket in front of the apartment. As well, the 471 goes all the way to Los Cristianos which is a popular tourist area with gorgeous beaches and plenty of culinary options. I would recommend taking a day trip there at least once as it's so easy to get there on the bus without having to pay high prices to stay there. I also went to Siam Park which was excellent and the 471 stops just down the hill from it. All in all, an excellent stay and would definitely stay again.
