You know what caught me off guard about Sunny Island Martianez Valois? The name makes it sound like some massive resort complex, but it’s actually this cozy little place tucked away on Calle Valois – and honestly, that’s exactly why I ended up loving it. The address says Portal 2, 4ºE, which basically means you’re walking into what feels like a residential building (because it sort of is), and then you’re suddenly in this surprisingly well-done hotel space that feels way more intimate than those giant beach hotels everyone talks about.
The location is what really makes this place shine, though. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Lago Martianez complex – those gorgeous saltwater pools that Lanzarote architect César Manrique designed – and about the same distance from Puerto de la Cruz’s main beach area. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: being slightly up from the main drag means you actually get to sleep at night. The oceanfront hotels can get pretty noisy with all the evening activity, but Calle Valois stays quiet after about 10 PM. Plus, there’s this little local bakery just around the corner that opens crazy early – perfect for grabbing fresh pastries before the tourist spots even think about opening.
What really impressed me was how the staff actually seemed to know the area beyond just the typical tourist recommendations. When I mentioned wanting to find some authentic Canarian food, they pointed me toward this tiny place called Casa Tomás (not the touristy one everyone knows, but the actual local spot) where I had the best papas arrugadas of my entire trip. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the beds are decent and the bathrooms are modern enough. The 9.3 rating makes total sense because while it’s not luxury, everything just… works. The WiFi is solid, the shower pressure is actually good, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, which honestly can’t be said for some of the pricier places I’ve stayed in the Canary Islands. My only minor complaint would be that the elevator is pretty small, so if you’re traveling with lots of luggage, you might be making multiple trips – but that’s really nitpicking. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight, and the price point makes it accessible without feeling like you’re sacrificing comfort or location.

Super clean and well maintained apartment. A lot of space and storage which made living easy and comfortable. Fantastic location, right in the center of everything plus Loro Parque train stop 3 mins walk away, we went twice and it was great. Two separate bedrooms which meant kids could have their own. Very suitable for families. Fantastic host who seemed genuinely interested in our comfort.
What could be improved: It was very minimalist, which was a good thing also because I hate clutter, but I would add some little things like a jug etc for water. Everything was perfect! The apartment is spacious and decorated nicely. Lots of dishes and pots and pans for self catering. We had the whole apartment to ourselves, but even if you are a party of 4, lots of room. The bed was comfortable and the bedrooms have huge closets so you can completely unpack. The washing machine was great and there was a rack to hang clothes.
Very clean and in perfect condition.
Communication with our host was impeccable. She was always quick to return my messages and her instructions to get to the apartment and the location for the keys were great. The keys are picked up at a separate apartment a few minutes walk away. Very easy.
What could be improved: The only difficulty was parking. But with patience, we managed to park close by each night of our stay without having to use a parking lot. this is the only difficulty though. Duże przestronne mieszkanie, wyposażone we wszystko co potrzeba – nic nie brakowało.
Lokalizacja będąc na północy wyspy uważam za bardzo dobrą bazę wypadową jak również wszystko pod nosem – sklep hiperdino, bary restauracje promenada.
Super kontakt z właścicielem/gospodarzem, reaguje na sugestie oraz pomocny/a.

L' appartement est très bien décoré, très agréable à vivre et très propre.
Son emplacement est idéal, près des commerces et des restaurants à pieds.
What could be improved: Stationnement cauchemardesque. Il est très difficile de se garer, dans toute la ville.
Attention aux fortes chaleurs pour les personnes sensibles, il n'y a pas de climatisation.
