Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Sunny Island Lago Martianez, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But this place actually surprised me, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on Calle Colombia in Puerto de la Cruz, which puts you maybe a two-minute walk from the famous Lago Martianez complex (you know, those gorgeous volcanic rock pools that César Manrique designed). The location is honestly perfect if you want to be close to the action without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist strips.

What really got me was how the hotel feels both polished and relaxed at the same time. The 4-star rating is spot-on – it’s not trying to be some ultra-luxury palace, but everything works well and the staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the vibe was just right – busy enough to feel alive but not so packed that you’re fighting for pool chairs at 7 AM. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though I’d say the real win is stepping out onto your balcony and realizing you can actually see the ocean between the buildings. Small thing, but it matters when you’re having your morning coffee.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to everything that matters in Puerto de la Cruz. The botanical gardens are like a 15-minute stroll if you’re into that sort of thing, and there’s this little tapas place called La Cofradía just around the corner that serves the best papas arrugadas I had on the whole island. The beach at Playa Jardín is close enough that you don’t need to think about transportation, but far enough that you’re not dealing with constant beach foot traffic outside your window. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – I mean, it’s an old town with narrow streets – but the hotel sorted that out without any drama. One thing to note: if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe ask for a room facing away from the street. It’s not terrible, but Puerto de la Cruz does come alive at night, especially on weekends. Personally, I found the gentle hum of evening activity kind of charming, but your mileage may vary. The 8.2 rating this place has earned feels about right to me – it’s solidly good at what it does without any major surprises, positive or negative.

  Great location, clean and mostly quiet. Some music once in a while from a neighbouring bar but it was nothing that bothered us.
  The bed and pillows are just great. We even researched if we could get them for home😊. Nice balcony and good contact with the host.
  Kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal.
  We stayed in number 5 on the top floor and had no neighbour, which I appreciated. It also felt very private.
  I would definitely recommend.

  The overall design of the apartment is very lovely, attractive and practical. Kitchen utensils are diverse, there is a washing machine, a large balcony with table and we had a private terrace with a wondeful view. The location is perfect: close to shops, Loro Parque mini-train and Lago Martianez, but the apartment is still quiet. We enjoyed our stay there and would love to come back again. Thank you!
  
  What could be improved: Humidity is very common on Tenerife, still the apartment would do great with a dedicated dehumidifier. It was quite impratical to wash clothes with never ending drying time (in January).

  Wir haben uns in der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt. Damit wir die Terrasse richtig geniessen konnten, haben wir uns noch 2 Liegestühle gekauft, die wir bei der vorzeitigen krankheitsbedingter Abreise (14.Juni) verschenkt haben.

  La ubicación es perfecta. Cerca del mar y de las piscinas.
  Tiene una terraza estupenda con escaleras que permiten vistas desde lo más alto del edificio.

  El apartamento es amplio y cómodo con una terraza protegida muy agradable. La azotea tiene muy buenas vistas.
  En cuanto al interior, la habitación es grande y la cama súper cómoda. La cocina está bien equipada y en el baño nos encantó la ducha.
  El apartamento estaba muy limpio, así como las escaleras/entrada.
  Ubicación muy céntrica, a 50 metros de las piscinas de Martíanez.
  
  What could be improved: El hotel vecino tiene actividades con música de 12 a 13 y por la noche de 22 a 23. No es muy molesto pero se oye.
  Como recomendación, la azotea superior podría tener alguna tumbona o similar para aprovecharla mejor, pero entiendo que sea complicado porque sopla viento fuerte a menudo.

  Cieszę się , że nie sugerowałem się wcześniejszymi opiniami przy wyborze tego apartamentu.. Lokalizacja w samym centrum puerto de la cruz na dole sklepy , restauracje , apteka itp. Minutka do pięknej promenady i naturalnych basenów Martianez, niedaleko również plaża.Apartament znajduje się na samej górze budynku przez co czuliśmy się bardzo prywatnie , proste zameldowanie bezkontaktowe. Apartament bardzo ładny , przestronny a przede wszystkim bardzo czysty. Piękny duży taras , pełne wyposażenie niczego nam nie brakowało. Przemiły personel i bezproblemowy kontakt. Dziękujemy bardzo !!🥰🥰
