You know what caught me off guard about Summer Breeze? It’s tucked away on Calle Mequinez, which honestly sounds like just another narrow street in Puerto de la Cruz until you realize you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the main action but completely removed from the tourist chaos. I mean, you can still hear the waves from Playa Jardín if you really listen, but you’re not dealing with the constant hum of beach bars and street vendors that can drive you nuts when you’re trying to sleep.
The hotel itself feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need – and I don’t just mean the obvious stuff. Sure, it’s got that solid 4-star foundation (decent-sized rooms, reliable AC, proper water pressure), but there are these little touches that make sense. The lobby doesn’t try to be some grand statement piece; it’s just comfortable with good lighting for actually reading maps or hotel info. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no upselling or lengthy presentations about timeshares. The staff seemed to know the area genuinely well too – when I asked about getting to Los Realejos for hiking, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic brochure but actually explained which bus to catch and where to buy a proper bocadillo for the trail.
What really sold me on the place was how it handles the balance between being in Puerto de la Cruz but not being overwhelmed by it. You’re close enough to walk to Plaza del Charco for dinner (honestly, about eight minutes if you don’t get distracted by the shops), but Calle Mequinez stays pretty quiet even during peak season. The rooms facing the street don’t get hammered by noise, which is saying something in a town where delivery trucks start their rounds at what feels like dawn. I actually liked the slightly older feel of the building – it has character without being shabby, and the balconies are real balconies, not those tiny ledges some hotels try to pass off. The whole place just feels… settled, I guess? Like it’s been doing this hospitality thing long enough to know what works without constantly trying to reinvent itself. For the price point and that 8.3 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without any unpleasant surprises.

The location is great, close to the free car park and supermarket (which we only discovered after two days!). Nice little apartment!
What could be improved: The apartment was comfortable, but I didn’t realise I booked the one on the first floor, which had no seaview…

Ideal location, close to good restaurants and seafront. Parking available in street nearby. Staff on hand via telephone. Coffee pods in cupboard and good selection of cutlery and cookware. Spacious open plan kitchen/living area.

Nice and clean appartment with great view to the sea. Great varietzy of restaurants in front of the house and close by.

What could be improved: There is a lot of stairs, so it may be a bit tricky for travellers with a lot of luggage and small children. The location in the city centre and close to the free parking area, many good restaurants around. Well equipped kitchen and washing machine in the bathroom.

Passcodes on the building and apartment doors made going to the beach without valuables very easy.
