You know what caught me off guard about Studio Parque Atlanta? The name makes it sound like some generic business hotel, but honestly, this place has way more character than I expected. It’s tucked away on Calle Isla Gran Canaria – which, let’s be real, is one of those streets you’d never find without GPS – but that actually works in its favor. You’re close enough to the main drag in Puerto de la Cruz to walk everywhere, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night.

The studios themselves are surprisingly spacious, and I mean that in the best way possible. Most places in the Canary Islands pack you into these tiny boxes, but here you’ve got room to actually unpack your suitcase (revolutionary concept, I know). The kitchenettes are functional – not just for show like some hotels where they give you a mini-fridge and call it a day. I actually cooked breakfast a few times, which saved me from those overpriced hotel buffets. The balconies vary depending on your room, but even the smaller ones give you a decent view of the surrounding neighborhood. Fair warning though – if you’re on the lower floors, you’ll hear the occasional delivery truck in the early morning, but it’s nothing compared to the noise you’d get closer to the port area.

What really makes this place work is the location knowledge you pick up after a day or two. There’s this little local café about three blocks down that serves the best cortado in town – none of the staff will tell you about it because it’s not on their official recommendation list, but the cleaning lady mentioned it to me in passing. The beach at Playa Jardín is maybe a 10-minute walk, and here’s the thing locals know – if you cut through the small park behind the hotel instead of taking the main road, you skip most of the crowds and end up at the quieter end of the beach. The hotel’s in that sweet spot where you can walk to Lago Martiánez (those incredible seawater pools) without needing a taxi, but you’re not stuck in the middle of all that tourist density around Plaza del Charco. Check-in was smooth – they actually had my room ready early, which almost never happens anywhere else I’ve stayed. The staff seems genuinely happy to be there, not just going through the motions. For a 4-star place with a 9 rating, it delivers on both counts without trying too hard to impress you with fancy nonsense you don’t need.
