Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve walked past Starfish Home on Avenida José Antonio Tavio probably a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, I was kicking myself for not booking it sooner. This little three-star gem sits right in the heart of Costa del Silencio – and yes, the name really does mean “Coast of Silence,” which is exactly what you get here. While everyone’s fighting for space on the packed beaches up in Los Cristianos, you’re literally a two-minute stroll from quiet stretches of coastline where the biggest drama is whether the tide’s coming in or going out.

The thing about Starfish Home is that it feels like someone’s actually paying attention to the details. I mean, you walk in and there’s this immediate sense that the place is genuinely cared for – not just cleaned by a rotating crew who couldn’t care less. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling (in a good way), and the staff behind the desk actually seem to know the area. When I asked about where to grab breakfast that wasn’t touristy garbage, they pointed me toward this little café about three blocks inland that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star – nothing fancy, but everything works, the beds are actually comfortable, and the bathrooms are spotless. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right on one of the main drags. The building seems to block out most of the street noise, and let’s be honest, there isn’t much street noise to begin with in Costa del Silencio anyway.

Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to feel like you’re experiencing actual Tenerife instead of just another resort bubble. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the marina at Las Galletas, where you can catch boats out to see whales (and actually see them, not just hope), and the whole area has this authentic Spanish coastal town vibe that’s getting harder to find. Plus, if you do want the full tourist experience, you’re only a quick bus ride from the madness of Playa de las Américas. Parking’s surprisingly easy too – there’s street parking right outside most of the time, which is a genuine blessing if you’ve rented a car. I stayed there in late September and it was this perfect sweet spot where the weather was still gorgeous but the summer crowds had mostly cleared out. The whole neighborhood just felt relaxed and real, you know? Like people actually live there instead of just passing through with their suitcases.
