Spectacular Cave with two large terraces (70m2) by the sea

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of unusual places, but this cave dwelling on Calle la Vereda genuinely surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first pull up (parking’s actually not terrible, which is saying something for this part of Tenerife), you’re thinking “okay, cave hotel, probably some gimmicky thing.” But honestly? The moment you step onto those massive terraces, you get it. We’re talking 70 square meters of outdoor space here, which is basically unheard of unless you’re dropping serious cash on some resort suite.

The location is what really makes this place special, though. You’re right there on the edge of everything – close enough to Santa Cruz that you can actually walk to decent restaurants and not feel like you’re trapped in tourist-land, but far enough out that you wake up to actual ocean sounds instead of traffic. The terraces face the water, obviously, and I spent way too much time out there with my morning coffee just watching the boats come and go. There’s something about being tucked into the rock face that makes the whole experience feel more… I don’t know, authentic? Like you’re actually experiencing how people lived here, not just passing through. The cave itself stays surprisingly cool during the day – which you’ll appreciate if you visit during summer when the rest of the island is basically an oven.

What I didn’t expect was how well-appointed everything is inside. I mean, it’s still a cave, so don’t expect floor-to-ceiling windows or anything, but they’ve really thought through the details. The lighting works with the natural stone instead of fighting it, and the furniture actually fits the space instead of looking like they just crammed regular hotel stuff in there. Check-in was smooth – the hosts clearly know what they’re doing and aren’t trying to oversell the experience. They just let the place speak for itself, which it absolutely does. The only minor thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit echo-y when it’s windy, but honestly, that just adds to the character. And at a 9.2 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’ve nailed the balance between unique and comfortable. If you’re the type who books the same chain hotel everywhere, this probably isn’t for you. But if you want something that’ll actually stick in your memory and give you a real taste of what makes this part of Tenerife special, you’d be crazy not to grab one of those terraces for a few nights.

  Unique property in a unique area. Loved the huge terraces and it felt so calm looking out to sea every day. There’s a lovely walk right by the sea to the marina of Radazul and we loved the village of Bocacangrejo.
  The apartment has everything you need and more, lovely home made welcome snacks (thank you) and even though there’s a dishwasher, I didn’t mind washing up as I could look out to sea! Huge and comfortable bed that I miss already, really clean amenities and the living room set in the cave is just so gorgeous, I could happily move in full time.
  Christelle is so helpful and very welcoming, we really couldn’t have asked for more.
  
  What could be improved: Parking can be interesting at the weekend but it was fine during the week.

  The place was wonderful and unique – a cave and two terraces with sea views! Very clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. It was only a few steps to a swimming hole, and a few minutes to a beach. Cafes and a grocery store were within walking distance.
  
  What could be improved: It is a hike uphill to the grocery store. If you stay more than a few days, you'll need to rent a car.
