I mean, when I first pulled up to 24 Avenida Axaentemir in Güimar, I wasn’t sure what to think. The street’s pretty quiet, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to hear the ocean if you step outside at night, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you won’t deal with any of that noise.

The setup here is brilliant for couples who want their own space without the hotel hassle. The outdoor kitchen – and I’m talking a proper setup, not just a hot plate thrown on a patio – sits right in this little garden area that gets morning sun but stays cool in the afternoons. I spent most evenings out there with a bottle of local wine, and the neighbors were friendly enough to chat over the fence about where to find the best fish in town. The bathroom’s modern and actually has decent water pressure, which… well, you know how that goes in some Spanish rentals. Inside, it’s cozy without feeling cramped, though if you’re someone who needs tons of storage space, you might have to get creative with your suitcase situation.

What really makes this spot work is the location – Güimar isn’t one of those places tourists usually stumble into, but it’s got this authentic Canarian feel that the resort areas just can’t match. You’re about fifteen minutes from some incredible hiking trails that most people miss entirely, and the local market on Saturday mornings is where you’ll actually want to buy your groceries instead of hitting the overpriced shops near the coast. The host was super responsive when I had questions about parking (there’s space, don’t worry), and they left these detailed notes about everything from how to work the outdoor shower to which buses run to Santa Cruz if you don’t want to drive. Honestly, for the price point and the fact that you get your own private outdoor space, it’s a solid choice if you want to experience this part of Tenerife without feeling like you’re staying in someone’s spare room.
