You know what struck me first about Sleep on the Sea? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – and I mean that in the best way possible. This place sits right on the edge of Callao Salvaje, which honestly feels like one of those Tenerife secrets that hasn’t been completely overrun yet. When you’re standing on their terrace (and trust me, you’ll spend time there), you’re literally looking out at nothing but Atlantic Ocean stretching toward La Gomera on clear days.

The location on La Lava street is pretty perfect, actually. It’s tucked away enough that you don’t get the constant tourist foot traffic, but you’re still walking distance to the decent restaurants down by the marina – there’s this little Canarian place called El Rincón that locals go to, maybe five minutes on foot. The hotel itself feels more like a boutique spot than your typical 4-star chain. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile, and honestly, the beds are better than I expected. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – even though you’re close to the main road heading toward Playa de la Arena, it’s surprisingly quiet at night.

Here’s the thing about Callao Salvaje that most people don’t realize until they’re here: it’s got this laid-back vibe that’s getting harder to find on the southern coast. The staff at Sleep on the Sea seem to get that – they’re helpful without being hovering, and a couple of them actually gave me solid recommendations for hiking trails up toward the cliffs. The breakfast setup is pretty good too, though I’d skip it on weekends when it gets a bit crowded with Spanish families (not a bad thing, just louder). Parking can be tight during peak season – there’s street parking, but you might end up walking a few minutes if you arrive late in the day. The pool area is where this place really shines, especially in the late afternoon when the sun hits it just right and you can hear the waves below. It’s not huge, but it doesn’t need to be. The whole property has maybe 30 rooms, so it never feels overwhelming. I’d definitely come back, particularly in shoulder season when the weather’s still perfect but the crowds thin out a bit.

  The view on the ocean from that you can neatly jump in from the balcony!

  Beautiful location, everything within walking distance and a great view with the sound of the waves right outside your window. Very quiet but with a few lively bars within the area. Ideal for a quiet break. The 'edge' just up the road for live entertainment and the 3 horseshoes for live sports and karaoke etc. 10 minutes walk to the bus station or if you prefer then taxis readily available if you want to hang out with the stag and hen do's in the busier resorts.
  
  What could be improved: If you are on the larger side then you may struggle getting into the toilet. It's basically a bedsit but a beautiful one. There is a pool very close by but it's one when the tide comes in and fills up. The tide didn't come in enough to use but a small walk to the beach is easily accessible.

  Appartement très cosy , très bien aménagé avec goût.

  Le lit face à la grande baie vitrée vue mer , la terrasse parfaite et on se douche également avec vue mer .

  What could be improved: Rien , alors si il faut juste dire une petite chose on a eu un peu de mal à trouver l’appartement cela manque juste un peu d’indications une fois arrivés devant les appartements.

  Wunderbarer Blick aufs Meer, wir sind mit dem Rauschen der Wellen eingeschlafen und aufgewacht. Wenn man auf der Terrasse sitzt kann man glatt vergessen, dass man sich mitten in einem stark frequentierten Touristenort befindet. Sehr freundliche Übergabe der Schllüssel. Apartment in sehr ordentlichem Zustand, würden, wenn wir wieder in diese Gegend kommen, dieses Apartment wieder wählen. Zu einem etwas abgeschiedenen Meerwasserpool, der auch nicht sonderlich stark frequentiert ist, sind es nur ein paar Schritte, ein recht gutes Restaurant mit tollem Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang (unbedingt reservieren, ist täglich voll) befindet sich im Gebäudekomplex (unter dem Apartment einen Stock tiefer). Zum gepflegten Strand (ebenfalls mit empfehlenswerten Restaurant) benötigt man zu Fuß ein paar Minuten (ca. 200 m einen Hügel hinunter).

  Traumhafte Lage, neue Ausstattung, sehr sauber
  
  What could be improved: Der Naturpool konnte nur an weniger als der Hälfte unserer Urlaubstage genutzt werden, da das Wasser aus unerklärlichen Gründen 2 x ausgelassen wurde und der Pool viele Tage trocken war. Lediglich an 1,5 Tagen wurde er mit Hochdruckstrahler gereinigt. Keine Kommunikation oder widersprüchliche Aussagen der Wohnungsbesitzer. Auch unsere Mail an [email protected] wurde nicht informativ beantwortet.
  Für uns Senioren ist der Pool essentiell wegen der Brandung am Strand.
  Ein weiterer Aufenthalt in der App-Anlage Los Barrandas kommt nur in Frage, WENN DIE POOLBENUTZUNG SICHERGESTELLT IST.

  What could be improved: Die Unterkunft befindet sich in einem Gebäude, welches bereits in die Jahre gekommen ist. Die Ausstattung beschränkt sich auf das Notwendigste.

  What could be improved: Не було відчуття, що вас там чекають. Ми були в кінці квітня. Вітер був наскільки сильним, що я не могла спати даже вночі, так було голосно при зачинених вікнах. Штори не перекривали повністю ранішнє світло. На 10 днів нам залишили 2 малесеньких рулони туалетного паперу. 1 була нормальна кастрюля з ікеа, інші поцарапані тефлонові. Ну у відпустці вам не хочется готувати, але якщо ви захворієте як я і будите лежати із температурою, то в цій місцині ви не знайдете якогось легкого супу чи іншої легкої їжі, бо це туристична зона. Маленькі шашечки, що треба за сніданком 2 рази заварювати чай. В холодильнику ви побачете 1 пляшку води, в нас була відкрита. Якщо вам треба помити довге волося, то треба поспішати, бо гарячої води бойлера вам не вистачить. Крісла такі затерті, що вам треба на них щось простелити щоб сісти. І нам ще повезло саме коли на протязі 5 днів я лежала із температурою, в сусідній квартирі робили ремонт! І почали робити в неділю. До 11 у вас на балконі майже не буде сонця, а потім у кімнаті так яскраво, що треба закривати штори, або вдягати сонцезахистні окуляри, і тоді вид на океан він просто недоречний. Від того шуму який був від хвиль, я і вдень зачиняла вікна, бо це просто дуже голосно і вітряно. Сушильня на балконі буде із ржавчиною, тому потрібно застиляти паперовими рушниками,перед тим як сушити ваші делікатні речі. Я б добавила і більше фото, але можна тільки 4. І нам фото видно, що перед балконом на даху витяжка ресторану, тому регулярно у вечірній час будуть певні запахи.
