You know what struck me first about Sir Anthony? It’s actually how quiet it manages to be despite sitting right on Avenida de las Américas – and if you’ve spent any time in Playa de las Americas, you’ll know that’s no small feat. The hotel’s got this clever design where the main building shields the pool area from all the street noise, so you get that perfect balance of being in the thick of things but still having a peaceful spot to retreat to.

I mean, let’s be honest – most five-star places in this part of Tenerife can feel a bit stuffy or try-hard, but Sir Anthony actually nails that upscale vibe without making you feel like you need to whisper in the lobby. The staff genuinely seem to know what they’re doing (check-in was smooth even during the Christmas rush), and they’ve got this way of being helpful without hovering. The rooms are what you’d expect from a property with a 9.4 rating – spacious, well-appointed, with those little touches that matter like proper blackout curtains and a decent shower with actual water pressure. What I really appreciated was the balcony situation – most of them have at least partial ocean views, and even if you don’t get a full-on sea view, you’re looking out over the pool area or toward the mountains, which honestly isn’t a bad consolation prize.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be walking distance to everything but not right in the chaos of the main strip. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to the beach – the stretch near Parque Santiago, which tends to be less crowded than the central Playa de las Americas area. There’s a decent little supermarket (Supermercado Hiperdino) practically next door, which is clutch if you want to grab snacks or drinks without paying hotel prices. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the hotel’s restaurant is actually worth eating at, not just a convenient fallback. I’ve stayed at plenty of places where the food is forgettable at best, but their breakfast spread is solid and the dinner menu has some genuinely good options that go beyond typical hotel fare. The pool area gets busy mid-afternoon (especially when the cruise ship crowds hit town), but early morning or later evening it’s pretty serene. Just be aware that parking can be a bit tight – they do have spaces but it’s one of those situations where you might need to wait for someone to leave during peak season.
