Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Silken Atlántida? It’s got this unexpectedly sleek vibe tucked right into the heart of Santa Cruz – I mean, you’re literally at the corner of Tres de Mayo and Aurea Díaz Flores, which honestly doesn’t sound like much until you realize you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing in the city center. The building itself has this modern glass facade that catches the Canarian light beautifully, and when I walked into the lobby, there was this immediate sense of “okay, they actually thought about design here.”

The location is what really sells it, though. You’re about a ten-minute stroll from the port where all the inter-island ferries dock – super handy if you’re island-hopping – and the main shopping district is literally around the corner. But here’s the thing locals know: you’re also close enough to the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África to grab incredible fresh produce and local cheese (seriously, don’t skip the goat cheese), yet far enough from the really touristy waterfront that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds every single day. The rooms are well-designed – I’d call them contemporary rather than trendy, with these floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in modern hotels. The AC works properly too, which matters more than you’d expect in Tenerife’s summer heat.

What impressed me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the city. When I asked about getting to Anaga Rural Park, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure – he told me which bus to take and mentioned that the 8 AM departure gives you the best light for photos at the viewpoints. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, and they actually have decent coffee, not that hotel swill you sometimes get. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of Santa Cruz – the hotel has a garage, but it fills up fast, so I’d recommend booking that in advance if you’re driving. The 8.4 rating feels about right to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it nails the fundamentals and puts you right where you want to be for exploring both the city and using it as a base for day trips around Tenerife. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevator is actually quiet – you won’t hear it running all night, which has definitely been an issue at other places I’ve stayed.

The location is excellent, near the bus station and a short flat walk to the town centre. We booked a Junior Suite (which was huge)…a wee treat after backpacking through the Canary Islands. The Hotel is pretty classy, extremely clean and well maintained.

  • Rosina from Spain (9/10)

The location was perfect, really close to public transport and the taxi rank, also brilliant for shops and the supermarket. The staff were helpful and polite. And all necessities were available, including a mini fridge.
