Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of beach hotels in the Canary Islands, but Serendipia Next to the beach actually lives up to its name in ways that surprised me. When I first walked up to the building on Calle Juan XXIII – and yes, it’s literally a ground floor apartment in what looks like a regular residential building – I’ll admit I had my doubts. But honestly? That’s part of what makes this place special.

The location is absolutely killer if you know Arona at all. You’re about a three-minute walk from Playa de Los Cristianos, which means you get that proper beach town vibe without the chaos of being right on the main strip. I mean, you can literally hear the waves from your room on quiet evenings, but you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The setup feels more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to live in paradise – there’s something refreshingly authentic about checking into what’s essentially a well-appointed apartment rather than some sterile hotel lobby with marble floors and fake smiles.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside. The space feels thoughtfully designed by someone who actually understands what travelers need (decent Wi-Fi, proper lighting for reading, a coffee setup that doesn’t make you want to cry). The kitchen situation is solid if you want to grab some jamón and cheese from the local market instead of eating out every meal – and trust me, after a week of tourist restaurants, you’ll appreciate having that option. The whole vibe is relaxed but polished, sort of like if your coolest friend decided to rent out their beach apartment.

Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – it’s Spain, so you know how it is with narrow streets and everyone double-parking – but there are spots if you’re patient. The building itself is quiet, which I wasn’t expecting given how close you are to everything. You’re walking distance to the ferry terminal if you want to hop over to La Gomera for a day trip, and there’s this little bakery about two blocks away that does these incredible pastries that’ll ruin your diet plans.

The whole experience just feels genuine in a way that’s hard to find anymore. No one’s trying to upsell you on spa treatments or excursions the second you walk in. It’s just a really well-done place to stay that happens to be perfectly positioned for exploring this part of Tenerife. I stayed for five nights and honestly found myself looking forward to coming back each evening, which says something – usually I’m just using hotel rooms as crash pads between activities.

  Location is perfect and it is a great sized apartment for a couple.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment definitely isn’t soundproof. We were able to hear everything outside and our neighbours – I did have to wear ear plugs for an interrupted sleep.

  What could be improved: Les voisins de l'appartement à côté faisaient du poisson frit tous les soirs ! Mais notre hôte n'y était pour rien !!
  Nous aurions aimé que notre hôte nous propose le changement des serviettes à mi-séjour ; il y avait un lave-linge avec une dosette fournie, mais ça n'aurait sans doute pas eu le temps de sécher… (nous sommes restés 7 jours).

  Está todo nuevo y muy limpio y es fiel a las fotos. Además está muy bien ubicado entre las dos playas.
  
  What could be improved: Cuando llegamos (1:30 de la madrugada) las llaves no estaban en el cajetín y tuvimos que llamar por teléfono y esperar a que nos las trajeran.
  
  Faltan algunas cosas de menaje básicas: bayeta y fregona.
  
  Excesivo ahorro energético: el agua caliente se acaba a los 5 minutos y el aire acondicionado sólo funciona con las ventanas cerradas. Esto último es bastante incómodo porque tiene un sistema de sensores que desactivan el aire cuando abres la ventana y no funciona bien; en una habitación está roto y el primer día nos volvimos locos hasta que pudimos conectarlo.
