Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to San Diego 22, I wasn’t expecting much from the street view. It’s tucked right into this residential stretch of Avenida de San Diego, and from the outside it looks almost… well, understated for a four-star place. But that’s actually what I ended up loving about it – no flashy tourist trap vibes, just this quiet spot that feels more like staying at a really well-run boutique place than some massive chain hotel.

The thing about La Laguna is that it’s not your typical Tenerife beach destination (you know, if you’re looking for that, you’ll want to head down to the coast), but honestly? That’s exactly why this place works so well. You’re staying in what’s basically a UNESCO World Heritage town, which means you can actually walk to proper local bars and restaurants instead of those tourist-heavy spots. I mean, the historic center is literally a five-minute stroll – you can grab coffee at one of those tiny local cafés where the owner will remember your order by day three, then wander through streets that haven’t changed much since the 1600s. The staff at San Diego 22 actually gave me a hand-drawn map showing the best route to avoid the morning tour groups, which was such a small touch but made a huge difference.

What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night. Even though you’re on a main avenue, the rooms are surprisingly well-insulated – I was worried about traffic noise, but honestly, La Laguna just doesn’t have that kind of urban bustle anyway. The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential feel that you don’t get in the beach towns. Parking was way easier than I expected too (there’s street parking right outside, and the reception folks know all the tricks about the local parking rules). The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works, the wifi is solid, and the beds are actually good quality. I stayed for four nights and genuinely looked forward to coming back each evening, which says something. You know what really sealed it for me though? The breakfast setup. It’s not some massive buffet situation, but they do this nice spread with local pastries and proper coffee, and you end up chatting with other guests who are usually the kind of travelers who seek out authentic experiences rather than just hitting the beach. If you’re the type who wants to explore the real Tenerife – the mountain villages, the local markets, maybe drive up to Teide – this is honestly one of the better bases I’ve found.

  • Exceptional – Elena from Romania – 5 March 2025 (10/10)

We've stayed in 7 different locations and this one was by far the best. Great location, friendly host, comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, everything we needed in one place.Just like home.

  • Perfect! – Wilma from Netherlands – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Very friendly hosts. Private parking. Lots of space. Very clean.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Spaceous, quiet, fully equiped appartment with free parking space in the very center of La Laguna – Vaiva from Lithuania – 26 April 2024 (9/10)

It is a jointment to the family house practically in the very centre of La Laguna – a perfect place to explore the city, Anaga national park and other places in the north. Very spaceous, fully equiped appartment, having literally everthing you could possibly need. Very beautiful, very quiet
backyard with a (cold) swimming pool, flowers blooming, birds singing and even a lemon tree from which we were allowed to pick up ripe and tasty lemons(!!!) (we were there at the end of April). Wonderful, friendly and responsive hosts – we found out, that the toaster was not working and we got a new one on the next day! Thanks a lot for the small welcome presents (coffee, muffins and bisquits)!😊 A spaceous private parking lot at the backyard entrance is a great benefit if you have a car, as parking in the cities in Tenerife is close to a nightmare (you need to leave a deposit for the remote control of the gates, which you will get back after your stay). We loved it – would stay once more!

What could be improved: Just to be very picky – there was a hint of an old-house smell in the wardrobe (although not very strong) and the walls of the bathroom are starting to need repainting. But it doesn't lessen the overall nice appartment in a wonderful place!

  • Pleasant stay – Sarah from United Kingdom – 25 February 2024 (9/10)

  • Exceptional – Elise from Germany – 5 June 2023 (10/10)

Really good place to stay in La Laguna, spacious and well equipped kitchen.
Just 5' from the pedestrian old town and there is a shop 10' by foot for groceries shopping.
Possibility to park directly inside the property. We got a remote for the gate (40€ deposit that we got back at the check out).

  • Superb – Maria from Portugal – 27 April 2023 (9/10)

Very well locate. Quite local. Staff very kind. Good place for holydays in a family house, but independent apatment.

  • Amazing stay in La Laguna – Kelly from Belgium – 6 February 2023 (10/10)

This apartment exceeded our expectations. It was super clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Our host was very lovely and really helpful! Thank you for everything! Furthermore, the house was located perfectly in the centre, and is the perfect base to head to the Anaga mountains. Really recommend this place!

The location is right in the center of la laguna, which is very beautiful with many nice streets and good places to eat and drink
    Private parking
Well equipped kitchen, the host even put their honey, butter, jams, olive oil, coffee capsules etc.
    Very recommended!!!
    7 minutes from TFN airport

What could be improved: Nothing- perfect stay

  • We really enjoyed our stay at San Diego 22 – William from United Kingdom – 12 February 2023 (9/10)

The host Ophelia and family were fantastic, friendly and able to give local information. The apartment was large and the kitchen was well equipped. Easy and secure parking on site. Great location for the short walk into La Laguna.

What could be improved: While not a problem the two single beds would not be to everyones liking.

  • Stylish and central apartment. – Simon from United Kingdom – 8 February 2023 (8/10)

Location was great…an annexe bungalow to the owners home, with use of their nice garden and pool area, though the weather was too cold and miserable to do this during our stay. It is situated 5 mins walking from the historic main streets of La Laguna, and is an area of very smart grand homes and gardens, colonial style generally. Its also a short and easy drive to the airport. The accommodation is a big open plan space with separate kitchen area and bathroom…with very individual and stylish decoration, bigger than i thought from the photos. Frederico is very friendly and helpful and met us outside to open the electric gates to let us in to the parking of the property, and give the keys/show us the accommodation. We had communicated easily via Whatsapp. There is a large Mercadona close by…useful for us as we were self catering. Would definately stay here again, hopefully with better weather!

What could be improved: The mattress seemed to be one of those memory foam ones…definately was good on the back, but i found it difficult to get used to for moving around in bed. Though most people love them i think…so this preference is just mine.
