Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Tenerife, but Salitre Suite 2 honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place and cross your fingers it’ll be decent? Well, this isn’t one of those times. Tucked away on Calle Mesa del Mar in Tacoronte – and I mean properly tucked away, not just marketing speak – this place feels like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their impossibly cool apartment.

The thing about Tacoronte is that most tourists zip right past it heading to the flashier spots, which is actually perfect if you ask me. You’re about twenty minutes from the madness of Puerto de la Cruz but far enough away that you can actually hear yourself think. The suite itself is one of those places where someone clearly sweated the details – I’m talking about the kind of lighting that makes you look good in photos and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for real cooking, not just reheating hotel breakfast pastries. The bed situation is solid too, which matters more than people admit when they’re writing reviews. I mean, you can have all the Instagram-worthy decor in the world, but if you’re tossing and turning all night, what’s the point?

What really sold me on this place – and why I keep recommending it to people – is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re walking distance from some seriously good local spots that you’d never find if you were staying in the resort areas. There’s this little place down the street where the coffee is strong enough to wake the dead, and the woman who runs it will chat your ear off about the best hiking trails if you let her. The whole area has this lived-in feel that’s hard to find in tourist zones. Plus, and this is key if you’re planning to explore the island, you can actually park without having a minor breakdown about it. The roads around here aren’t the typical Canarian nightmare of narrow streets and nowhere to leave your car. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward hovering around a lobby wondering if you’re supposed to tip someone or fill out seventeen forms. Just smooth and easy, which set the tone for everything else. Honestly, with a 9.6 rating, I was expecting it to be good, but sometimes high ratings come from people who are just happy their room had hot water. This place earned those points the hard way – by actually being thoughtful about what makes a stay memorable rather than just tolerable.
