Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Rok Plaza on Blasco Ibañez, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked away in Alcalá, which honestly most people haven’t heard of unless they’re from Tenerife, but that’s actually part of its charm. The building itself has this sort of understated elegance that grows on you, you know? Not flashy, but solid in a way that makes you think they’ve figured out what actually matters.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the area. I mean, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he actually sketched out a route to this little family-run guachinche up in the hills that I never would’ve found otherwise. And parking? Well, let’s just say it’s not the nightmare you’d expect. They’ve got their own spots, which is honestly a godsend because trying to park anywhere else around here during the day is basically impossible. The rooms themselves are what you’d want from a proper 4-star place – clean lines, decent space, and the AC actually works (trust me, in July that’s not a given everywhere). The beds are firm but comfortable, and there’s this attention to detail that shows someone actually thought about what travelers need. Like, the shower pressure is excellent, there are enough outlets near the bed, and the curtains actually block out light when you want to sleep in.

What really sets this place apart though is the location – you’re close enough to the coast that you can smell the salt air, but far enough up that you escape the tourist chaos down in the port areas. It’s maybe a 15-minute walk to some really solid local spots, and if you’re into hiking, well, you’re perfectly positioned for the trails that wind up through the pine forests. The whole area gets this incredible golden light in the evenings that makes everything look like a postcard, but in a way that feels authentic rather than staged. I stayed here during what the locals call the “shoulder season” – late September – and it was perfect. Warm enough for the beach, not crowded, and the staff had time to actually chat rather than just rushing through check-in procedures. The breakfast (when I bothered to get up early enough) was solid local fare, not some international buffet nonsense. Fresh bread, proper coffee, and they had these little local pastries that I’m still thinking about months later. Honestly, the 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you a real taste of what this part of Tenerife is actually like.

  The staff was very friendly, and gave us the keys very fast. They showed us around and shared some recommendations.
  The location was great, with restaurants and cafes nearby. We parked really easy and for free in the streets nearby.
  The apparment is big and ideal for a long stay, specially because of the beautiful terrace. We could sadly only spend a night.

  Beautiful little house (!) , equipped with everything you need , directly at the little main square and viewing the ocean as well. Kati, the Host, is incredible! Super nice, there for whatever you need. The private (!) terrace ist just sooo amazing.
  There are 2 restaurants beneath but there was nothing to be heard after 10 p.m.

  Elegantly furnished with style. Loved the Indian statues and all decorations. The rooms were beautiful and very unique. Loved the roof rope terrace and the whole place get relaxed and welcoming.
