Red Level at Gran Melia Palacio de Isora – Adults Only Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Red Level at Gran Melia Palacio de Isora – Adults Only honestly feels like stepping into someone’s very expensive private estate — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and unlimited funds. This five-star resort sits dramatically on Tenerife’s southwestern coast, and I mean dramatically — the volcanic cliffs drop right into the Atlantic, creating this almost theatrical backdrop that never gets old. The adults-only policy means you’re immediately enveloped in this serene, sophisticated atmosphere that’s worlds away from the typical family resort chaos you’ll find elsewhere on the island.
Location & Setting
The location in Alcalá is actually brilliant — you’re far enough from the tourist madness of Los Cristianos but close enough to explore when you want to. What really struck me is how the resort takes advantage of Tenerife’s unique geography; you’ve got these incredible sunset views over La Gomera island, and on clear days, you can see all the way to La Palma. The private beach access is a game-changer too — most hotels along this coast make you trek down questionable paths to reach the water, but here you just… walk down. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free, which honestly matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with rental cars and unfamiliar roads.
The Room Experience
The Red Level room I stayed in was genuinely impressive — not just the size (though it’s generous), but the thoughtful details that show someone actually considered how people live in a space. The bed situation lives up to the hype; I’m usually a light sleeper, but something about the combination of quality linens and that ocean breeze just worked. The terrace became my morning coffee spot, looking out over the resort’s infinity pools toward the horizon. You know what I appreciated? The kitchenette setup — not because I planned to cook, but having a proper coffee machine and fridge space for those late-night snacks made everything feel more relaxed.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast deserves its own mention because they’ve clearly put thought into accommodating different dietary needs — the gluten-free options aren’t just afterthoughts, they’re actually good. The buffet setup flows well, no awkward bottlenecks or fighting over the coffee machine. The spa facilities are where this place really shines; the treatments incorporate local volcanic elements, which sounds gimmicky but actually works beautifully. I spent way too much time in the thermal circuit, moving between different temperature pools while watching the Atlantic stretch endlessly ahead.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place special isn’t just the luxury touches — though they’re certainly there — it’s how everything feels intentional and well-executed. Couples clearly get it; the whole vibe encourages those long, lazy conversations over wine while the sun sets. The staff strikes that perfect balance of being helpful without hovering, and they genuinely seem to know the area well enough to give useful recommendations. After a few days here, you start to understand why people return year after year — it’s not just a beautiful restaurant and resort experience, it’s this particular combination of dramatic natural setting, thoughtful service, and that distinctly Canarian sense of taking time to actually enjoy life.

The red level adults only area of the hotel was excellent. Room was perfect, including the balcony whirlpool bath that you could arrange for your butler to prepare for you! Breakfast was very good. Drinks (including wine and beer) and snacks were available free of charge from the lounge all day. Some nice local restaurants 5-10min walk for dinner.
Susan from United Kingdom (9/10)

Laura from United Kingdom (9/10)
Possibly the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in! The staff were so friendly and helpful, from management to cleaners. It was beautifully clean and finished to such a high spec. But the attention to detail is what steals the show. They’ve thought of everything – from the superb breakfast overlooking the ocean (for Red Level guests) to the padded sun loungers. Definitely worth going for Red Level!

Beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained. Very clean everywhere. Staff were all without exception, friendly, helpful and polite.

Loved this property, we had the red level stay, we had 3 days without the kids so it was great, really nice staff lovely rooms, first time at a melia hotel and would highly recommend, I have been trying to find a high level hotel on Tenerife as it can be quite untidy, this hotel made you feel like you was in Dubai. We did travel in mid December so was very quiet so probably a different experience to most.
Brian from Ireland (9/10)
The room, pools, and most importantly the Sports hub, Gym and Spa were all excellent. David and the team in the sports hub kept us moving with Padel, Spinning (including pool spinning) and functional fitness. Excellent.
