You know what struck me first about Sun House? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street called Calle Bélgica, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from all the action in Puerto de la Cruz. I mean, you can hear the waves from some of the rooms, and the whole place has this relaxed vibe that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed vacation home than a typical resort.

The thing about Puerto de la Cruz is that it’s not your typical Canary Islands destination – it’s got this authentic Spanish charm that hasn’t been completely steamrolled by tourism, and Sun House really captures that feeling. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which honestly surprised me), and they’ll give you the kind of local tips you won’t find in guidebooks. Like, there’s this tiny tapas place around the corner that they recommended where locals go for lunch, and it became my favorite spot during the whole trip. The resort itself has that perfect balance of amenities without feeling overly polished – the pool area gets great afternoon sun, and there’s usually a gentle breeze coming off the Atlantic that makes even the hottest days comfortable.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a week. The rooms are spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re tripping over your suitcase, there’s proper water pressure in the showers (trust me, this matters), and the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property. I stayed in one of the rooms facing the street side, and while you might worry about noise, Calle Bélgica is surprisingly quiet at night – mostly just the occasional local walking their dog or heading home from dinner. The breakfast spread is solid without being overwhelming, and they use local ingredients when possible, which you can definitely taste in the fresh fruit and pastries. Honestly, the location is what makes this place special – you’re close enough to walk to Lago Martiánez (those incredible saltwater pools) in about ten minutes, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you feel like you’ve discovered something authentic. The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should.

  You have access to a private rooftop with sunbeds, a jacuzzi, a dining table and a bathroom. They are quite generous on the use schedule. It is not too far from the touristic part of town and although parking is not available at the property, we were able to find parking not too far away without so much trouble. There were also some essentials provided in the kitchen for cooking and cleaning. Overall everything was thoughtful to make your stay confortable and enjoyable.

  We spent a wonderful 3 days in the apartment. Everything was wonderful! Spacious apartments, balconies on the roof of the house with a large terrace and beautiful views. The location is also worth noting: there are supermarkets and a bus stop nearby.

  What could be improved: I specifically requested 2 separate bedrooms but the host told me he did not read my request. In one of the bedroom pillow covers were missing .when I requested the host some, he told me he cannot bring new ones because he was out of the town. Then we found a dirty underwear from previous guest. When we explained that he told us that the previous guests left the apartment late so the cleaning lady cleaned quickly ! We were not happy to hear that because we felt the apartment was not thoroughly cleaned. He also added that I can sleep without pillow cover which made us very angry again

  Das Quartier hat eine fantastische Lage. Die Dachterrasse mit einem herrlichen Ausblick auf Stadt und Meer hat uns ganz besonders gefallen. Die Zimmer sind schön und sauber. Alles in allem das ideale Quartier für einen Aufenthalt in Puerto de la Cruz.

  Todo perfecto.
  El apartamento está muy cerca del centro y cuenta con todo lo necesario. Además, la terraza es muy bonita y perfecta para desayunar con unas bonitas vistas. El dueño fue muy simpático y atento en todo momento.
