You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to this place on Camino Achacay – honestly, the street name threw me off because it’s tucked away in this quieter part of Güimar that most tourists never see. But the moment I walked through that gate, I actually stopped in my tracks. The garden isn’t just some basic landscaping job; it’s this lush, carefully tended space where someone clearly knows what they’re doing with plants. The pool sits right in the middle of it all, and I mean, you’re going to want to spend most of your morning there with coffee because the way the light hits the water around 8 AM is pretty spectacular.

The house itself feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place – a friend who happens to have really good taste and knows how to make guests comfortable. Four stars sounds about right, though honestly it punches above its weight in some areas. The kitchen is actually functional (you can cook real meals, not just heat up leftovers), and the bedrooms are sized like people actually live there, not like hotel rooms where you’re bumping into furniture every five minutes. What really got me was how quiet it is at night – Güimar isn’t exactly a party town, but even so, you’ll sleep better here than in most places. The owners clearly thought about details that matter: there’s proper water pressure in the shower, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the house, and parking is right there without any drama about street spots or permits.

Here’s the thing about this area that most people don’t realize – you’re about twenty minutes from the coast, but you’re up high enough that you get these incredible views toward the ocean without the tourist crowds. The local market in Güimar town center is a five-minute drive, and that’s where you’ll find actual Canarian produce and bread that doesn’t cost tourist prices. I spent a couple of afternoons just sitting by the pool reading, occasionally looking up to watch the clouds roll over the mountains behind the house. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be some fancy resort, but it delivers exactly what it promises and then some.

  The space, the orchard, the beds, the shower room, the free produce from the farm, the friendliness and hospitality of the host, the appearance, the number of rooms, the ability to use netflix on the TV's, the Internet connection, the pool, the friendly cat.
  
  What could be improved: The pool is very cold, there is a creaky bedroom door which needs some oil on the hinge, there is no peeler in the kitchen, it would be great if there was a coffee machine.

  Beautiful property – plenty of space beautifully decorated and very clean. Great shower lots of hot water comfortable beds and plenty of dishes kitchen facilities and cooking utensils etc . It was quite remote but relaxing and for us we just wanted a quiet place with a good size pool and so it was perfect for us. The children loved the chickens and the orchard and the cat ! On a bad weather day we had Netflix to watch – lots of TVs in the rooms. Very rustic and authentic . We loved it.
  
  What could be improved: The only negative for us was the location – you must have a car – and even a trip to the supermarket was 35 mins round trip . Road up the mountain was dark and very twisty so not good if you are nervous driving abroad. It meant that when we wanted to go out for dinner you needed to add on mileage and driving time . There was nothing around for tourists it’s very residential so we had to drive south a few times .

  Very special place with everything, and a lot more than you could expect, thoughtfully provided. Beautiful view of sea and mountain daytime and stargazing at night. Large garden with avocados, oranges and lemons fresh for your breakfast. The pizza oven was super. The pool was clean, big and cold. We felt very safe in the gated property in the small village without tourists. Surprisingly good internet. A nice little foodshop in walking distance. Nice hikes close by and we liked Guimar Puertito for hike, swim as well as for tapas. The owner came quickly to help when a problem with the sink occurred.
  
  What could be improved: Due to the high level and the season it was a bit cold in the mornings and evenings. Quite some way to go to a nice beach.

  All'arrivo abbiamo ritirato le chiavi da un box con combinazione che ci era stata comunicata dai proprietari. Aperto il cancello, abbiamo trovato un ampio spazio in giardino per lasciare la macchina. Sulla sinistra l'edificio con le camere, il bagno e una cucina (con divano letto). All'esterno tavolo e divanetti sotto una tettoia, e di fronte la piscina attrezzata con sdraio e ombrelloni. A destra un secondo edificio con una grande cucina e area relax, con bellissima vetrata panoramica sul giardino. Bel tavolo esterno sotto il pergolato con zona barbeque/forno a legna e piccolo bagno di servizio. Il resto dello spazio è occupato da un orto, un frutteto e un pollaio da cui gli ospiti possono prendere ciò che serve! Ospiti molto graditi sono stati la gatta dei vicini (bellissima e ruffiana) e le galline, che possono essere liberate al mattino e rinchiuse la sera (non è un obbligo, ma è bello vederle girare per la proprietà :)). I proprietari hanno avuto l'accortezza di chiederci se la gatta poteva darci fastidio visto che è molto socievole e le piacciono le coccole, in tal caso avrebbero chiesto ai vicini di non lasciarla libera. In generale la struttura è favolosa, ideale per rilassarsi (la zona è molto tranquilla).

  What could be improved: gli ultimi 300 metri della strada sono piuttosto stretti e nel finale abbastanza ripidi, noi non abbiamo avuto problemi ma se ci fosse stata un'altra auto proveniente in direzione opposta sarebbe stato complesso da gestire!
  
  Inizialmente un po' strano non poter buttare la carta igienica nel water (ci sono dei cestini appositi), ma questo è comune in parecchi posti dell'isola.

  Nous avons cherché un endroit calme, nous avons été récompensés. Nos petites filles sont tombées sous le charme: les coqs,les poules, la chasse aux œufs, le chat, le potager. La maison est bien équipée et nous avons beaucoup profité de la piscine. Nous avons passé un super séjour et espérons revenir dans ce merveilleux endroit.
