I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address for Plaza San Marcos, I thought I’d made a mistake. You’re literally walking into what looks like a residential building on Calle San Sebastián, taking an elevator to the second floor, and suddenly you’re in this gorgeous boutique space that feels like someone’s incredibly stylish relative decided to open their doors to travelers. It’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret, especially since most people visiting Icod de los Vinos are just passing through to see the famous dragon tree and then rushing off to somewhere else.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to capture that authentic Canarian charm without making it feel like a museum – you know what I mean? The building itself sits right in the heart of the historic center, so when you step outside, you’re immediately surrounded by those narrow cobblestone streets and traditional architecture that hasn’t been Disney-fied for tourists yet. I actually spent most of my mornings just wandering around with my coffee, bumping into locals heading to the market or chatting with the guy who runs the little taberna around the corner. The location puts you walking distance from everything that matters in Icod – the church, the old town squares, even that massive thousand-year-old dragon tree that everyone comes to see – but somehow you’re tucked away from the day-tripper crowds.

The apartment itself (because that’s really what it feels like, a friend’s gorgeous apartment) has this perfect balance of modern comfort and local character. The 9.9 rating honestly makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be a flashy resort, but everything just works beautifully. The kitchen is actually functional if you want to pick up some local produce, the wifi doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to video call home, and the bed is one of those setups where you actually sleep better than you do at home. I mean, the whole place feels thoughtfully put together by someone who understands what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos. Plus, and this might sound silly, but the building is surprisingly quiet for being right in the center of town – something about those thick old walls, I guess. You get the authentic experience of staying in a historic neighborhood without dealing with street noise keeping you up all night.

  Host Pilar was beyond helpful. Her kindness brought positive energy to this trip.
  location isn’t central but you can take a bus from a terminal which is a walking distance.

  The apartment is very well located. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and groceries all around. The host provided us a free card to park the car in an indoor nearby located parking. The apartment is pretty big and there is everything to spend great holidays. The host welcomed us with a welcome package with some fresh fruits, wine, water, chips… very much appreciated. She also provided us a with a list of recommended places to visit and experience to made. Extremely recommended!
  
  What could be improved: There is no washing machine and we needed to use the automated laundromat however the host provided us with 2 cards for some free cycles.

  Pilar jest bardzo miła i udzieliła nam pomocy we wszystkim co potrzebowaliśmy, za co jesteśmy bardzo wdzięczni. Uwielbiamy udekorowany kwiatami apartament, jest tu bardzo czysto. Gospodyni dba o to, aby apartament był wyposażony naprawdę we wszystkie rzeczy codziennego użytku. Byliśmy już dwa razy i z pewnością przyjedziemy ponownie w przyszłości.
