You know what caught me off guard about Playachica? It’s actually tucked away on Carretera de las Gaviotas where you wouldn’t expect to find something this good – I mean, the road doesn’t look like much when you’re driving up, but then you walk into this apartment and suddenly you’re staring at this incredible sweep of ocean that just goes on forever. The sea view isn’t one of those “if you crane your neck and squint” situations either; it’s right there, filling up the windows like a living painting that changes color throughout the day.

The thing about this part of Santa Cruz is that it feels properly Canarian, not like those tourist zones where everything’s been sanitized for visitors. You’ll hear the actual rhythm of the neighborhood – kids playing in the street around sunset, the distant sound of waves hitting the rocks below, maybe someone’s radio drifting from a balcony. The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately. The kitchen actually works (I can’t tell you how many places have those useless mini-fridges), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. Honestly, the whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in typical accommodation.

What really sold me on this spot – and this might sound weird – was standing on the balcony early morning with coffee, watching the light change over the water. You can see the other islands floating on the horizon like mirages, and the whole scene shifts from deep purple to gold to that intense blue that only happens in the Canaries. The building’s positioned just right so you get all that drama without the harsh afternoon sun beating down on you. Plus, you’re close enough to the center of Santa Cruz that you can easily get to the good tapas places (there’s this little spot about ten minutes away where locals actually eat), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with city noise all night. I mean, parking can be a bit of a puzzle – it’s Spain, so you know how that goes – but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to leave anyway. The 9.4 rating makes total sense when you’re actually there; it’s one of those places where every detail just works without trying too hard.

  Sehr gute Lage und sauberer Strand. Das Apartment war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet.
  
  What could be improved: Nachts war es aufgrund fehlender Klimaanlage oder Ventilator sehr heiß. Wir haben uns nach zwei Nächten einen eigenen kleinen Ventilator gekauft und im Apartment lassen müssen; passte nicht in den Koffer, also viel Freude für den nächsten Gast 😉
  
  Leider hat der Nachbar nebenan von morgens bis abends in seiner Wohnung gesägt und renoviert. Über uns fing ebenfalls jemand an das Bad kernzusanieren. Es war morgens und mittags schrecklich laut und wir flüchteten soweit es ging direkt an den Strand oder auf einen unserer Ausflüge.

  Die Lage und Ausstattung des Appartments sind super. Man hat fast den ganzen Tag Sonne und ist direkt an einem Privatstrand. Auch Parken ist perfekt.
