Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Playa San Juan next to the Beach,” I thought it was a bit redundant. But after spending time at this place on Avenida Juan Carlos I, I get it. They’re not just saying they’re near the beach, they’re literally right there, and in this part of Guía de Isora, that actually means something special.

The thing about this stretch of Tenerife’s coast is that it’s not your typical tourist madness – you know what I mean? Playa San Juan has this authentic Canarian fishing village vibe that somehow survived the resort boom. The hotel sits perfectly positioned where you can walk out and actually see locals pulling in their boats in the morning, while still having all the four-star comforts you’d want. The 7.8 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be a flashy five-star palace, but it delivers on what matters. The rooms are well-appointed without being fussy, and honestly, the balcony views over the Atlantic are worth the stay alone – especially during those incredible Canarian sunsets that turn the whole sky into this orange-pink canvas.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to know the area inside and out. They’ll tell you about the little tapas place three blocks down that doesn’t look like much but serves the best papas arrugadas you’ll find outside of someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. And they’re right about timing too – if you want to explore the nearby Teide National Park (which, by the way, is absolutely worth the drive), they’ll suggest leaving early before the tour buses arrive. The hotel’s location means you’re far enough from the chaos of Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas, but close enough that you can drive there in about twenty minutes if you want that scene. Parking here is refreshingly straightforward, unlike some places where you’re circling blocks forever. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in some rooms – not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you’re planning to work remotely. The pool area gets this lovely afternoon light that makes everything feel golden, and there’s usually a gentle breeze coming off the water that keeps things comfortable even in summer. I mean, you’re in the Canary Islands, so the weather’s going to be pretty fantastic regardless, but there’s something about this particular spot that just feels right.

  Tolle Lage, kurzer Weg zum Meer. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants in direkter Nähe. Schöner Balkon.
  
  What could be improved: Die Dusche und auch der Kühl/Gefrierschrank dürfen gerne bald erneuert werden. Die Kaffeemaschine war defekt und wurde sofort beim Agenten Pedro reklamiert. Er versprach einen Ersatz zu besorgen, was aber nach 11 Nächten bis zur Abreise nicht passierte.

  Wer es etwas lauter mag, ist hier genau richtig: Vom schönen Balkon kann man die südliche Ortseinfahrt und den Verteilerkreisel überblicken und das quirlige Leben in der Umgebung. Auch das bei jeder Bewegung knarzende Bett trägt zur nächtlichen Unterhaltung bei.
  
  What could be improved: Die Kommunikation zur Übergabe war etwas verspätet. Trotz rechtzeitiger Terminangabe wurden wir erst kurz vor der Ankunft kontaktiert. Leider hatten wir da keine Internetverbindung.
  Übergabe hat nach etwas Warten dennoch geklappt.
  Die Dusche ist renovierungsbedürftig.
  Der Rest war ok.

  Playa San Juan è un paesino molto tranquillo, proprio quello che cercavamo. L'appartamento è in ottime condizioni, silenzioso e ha tutti gli utensili necessari per una coppia (noi siamo stati 10 giorni, quindi abbiamo avuto modo di verificarlo). Il proprietario mette anche a disposizione delle sedie e un ombrellone per il mare, cosa che abbiamo trovato estremamente utile. Comodo anche il parcheggio interno.
  
  What could be improved: Unica pecca (forse per gusto personale), il tavolo alto in cucina. Avrei preferito un tavolo normale. Per il resto tutto ok.
