So I stumbled across Playa Monis 1 while looking for something different in Icod de los Vinos – you know, away from the typical tourist traps but still close enough to actually do stuff. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the address alone (Paseo las Americas sounds pretty generic, right?), but this place completely surprised me. The building sits right at number 46, and there’s actually decent parking nearby, which – trust me – is not something you can take for granted in this part of Tenerife.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. Like, when I asked about getting to the famous Drago tree, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the tourist center – he told me about the back entrance that locals use and mentioned the best time to visit when the light hits it just right. The apartment itself feels way more spacious than the photos suggest, and there’s this little balcony where you can actually hear the ocean if the wind’s right. I mean, you’re not beachfront, but you get these glimpses of the Atlantic between the buildings that make you feel connected to the coast. The kitchen’s properly equipped too – I’m talking real dishes, not plastic tourist stuff – which matters when you want to hit the local market and cook some of that incredible fish they sell near the harbor.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience real Canarian life without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. You’re walking distance from those narrow streets where locals grab their morning coffee (there’s this tiny place called Bar Central that serves the strongest cortado I’ve ever had), and the weekly market is basically around the corner. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night – none of that resort noise or drunk tourists stumbling around. Just the occasional car and maybe some distant music from the plaza on weekends. The whole area feels lived-in, you know? Like people actually call this place home instead of just passing through with their selfie sticks. Plus, if you’re planning to explore the north coast – and you absolutely should – you’re positioned perfectly for day trips to Puerto de la Cruz or even up to the volcanic pools at Garachico. I stayed here for six nights and honestly wished I’d booked longer. The combination of that authentic neighborhood feel with genuinely comfortable accommodations is pretty rare, especially at this price point.

  the apt is very well equipped, excellent position if you like to be in a quiet area.You need a car but that is a must if you want to visit the whole island. communication with Pilar was excellent and helped us with info about the roundabouts. the view of the ocean is a plus . we appreciated everything so much.

  – The hostess Pilar was super responsive and ready to help.
  – The view from the terrace was even better in real life.
  – The flat was very well-equipped. Apart from a washing machine, you had everything you needed for a short stay. If you really need to do laundry, you could find a laundromat at Icod de Los Vinos, just a short drive away.
  – The WiFi was good too. We had no problem playing football games on our notebook.
  – Icod was a good base for exploring the north if you rented a car.
  
  What could be improved: – The mattresses were a bit too soft to our liking.
  – It's not easy finding a parking space right in front of the building if you come back later than 8pm. However, we could always find a spot at the Del Mar estate nearby.

  The owner is very responsible and kind. Apartment with beautiful ocean view.

  Very nice and spotless apartment facing the ocean. Everything that one could need was available. The host decorated the apartment with flowers and left a bottle of wine, some snacks, fruits and sweets for us. There is a parking lot in front of the building; should not be spots available here, there is a bigger one down the street.
  The host is very friendly, helpful and prompt in responding to any requests you may have: it gave us information about restaurants, grocery stores, festivals, points of interest, etc.

  What could be improved: The location of these apartments is suitable for those who come with a car, because it will be necessary to drive an hour every day to the beach on the south side of the island, since the apartments are located in the cold part of the island where there will be winds

  It is really good apartment, clean and comfort with awesome views. There was a lot of good things which are very helpful. Kitchen has everything you need. Beds are comfort. Location is very good, near the small but cozy beach in the bay surrounded by very astounding views. As well there is no problems with parking around. Definitely it is worth to stay there.

  The host is amazing. On arrival there was a bottle of wine, snacks, chocolates, fresh flowers, water and fresh fruit.
  I stayed for 9 days and half way through she cleaned the room and left another bottle of wine in a bucket of ice, more chocolates and more fresh flowers.
  She also gave me LOTS of information on what to do and where to go.
  If there were any small issues she immediately resolved them.
  The view from the balcony and inside is awesome.
  Lovely to go to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks.
  
  What could be improved: A bit of an unpleasant smell in the bathroom perhaps because of the rough seas…..
