You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Puerto de la Cruz over the years, and Pension Los Geranios on Calle el Lomo totally surprised me. I mean, when you first walk up that narrow street – it’s one of those typical Canarian side roads that feels like it’s built for donkeys, not cars – you might wonder if you took a wrong turn. But honestly, that’s part of what makes this place special. You’re tucked away from all the tourist chaos down by the harbor, yet you can still walk to the town center in maybe eight minutes.

The pension itself has this genuine local feel that’s getting harder to find these days. The owner, María, actually remembers your name after the first day (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t happen at those big resort chains). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent bathroom with good water pressure. Nothing fancy, but everything works. I loved that my room had this little balcony overlooking the street where you can hear the neighbors chatting in the evenings and smell whatever incredible thing someone’s cooking for dinner. The geraniums they’re named after? They’re everywhere – cascading from window boxes and filling these big ceramic pots around the entrance. It sounds cheesy, but it actually creates this lovely, homey atmosphere.

What really sold me on this place was the breakfast situation. They serve it in this tiny dining room that feels like eating at your Spanish grandmother’s house, complete with mismatched chairs and local pastries from the bakery down the street. And speaking of the street – Calle el Lomo connects to some great walking paths if you’re into exploring the older parts of town. I discovered this amazing little bar called El Rincón just two blocks away where locals actually hang out, not just tourists. The pension doesn’t have parking (honestly, most places in the old town don’t), but there’s a public lot about a five-minute walk away that’s pretty reasonable. One small thing – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. The church bells from San Francisco ring every hour, and while I found it charming, my travel companion was less thrilled at 6 AM. But really, for the price and that 8.9 rating, you’re getting authentic Puerto de la Cruz without the tourist markup. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually experiencing the town instead of just visiting it.

  Excellent location, very quiet despite being in the midst of the old city, near the coastal promenade, fantastic service, high quality mattress, bedding, towels, good shower water pressure, super clean, very well lit, good speed and stability wi fi, welcoming owners, the room even has a quiet dehumidifier that warmed up and dried the cool, humid winter air. Ample parking in the free city parking lot 3 minutes walk down the road. Recommended with enthusiasm!

  Best area of PDLC, right by the water, tons of amazing restaurants all around & multiple grocery stores. Black sand beaches 8 minute walk. Ride base Tenerife is 11 minute walk which is an AMAZING bike rental place & best way to see the north island.
  Value for this hotel is incredible as the location is unbeatable if you aren’t renting a car & want to walk & bike everywhere.

  Place is by far the best value in Puerto De La Cruz which is one of the best areas of Tenerife. Right by the water, amazing restaurants close by everywhere, supermarkets, etc. don’t know what else one would need. Every mediocre or negative review is fully on the reviewer’s part, not here. Some people don’t travel much or understand things. All of the staff is great, if you don’t like noise from restaurants close by on weekends bring earplugs.

  The location is quiet but close to everything. The staff is very helpful. The room and bathroom are super clean, they clean the rooms every single day. The bed and the bedding were comfortable too. Luckily the room doesn’t get hot during the summer so it was perfect. 👍🏻
  
  One thing I missed from the room an electric water kettle. It would be great to have it in the room to make tea in the evening.

  Great pension in the center of Puerto de la Cruz on a pedestrian street with cafes. Very warm welcome and the facilities were spotlessly clean. Perfectly suitable for my needs. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. Excellent value for money. Has a lift and nice roof terrace with clothes drying rack. Few minutes walk from bus station.

  Perfect location to explore the best places in the region. Very close to a Loro Park and very nice beaches, the best atmosphered cafe and restaurants were at the same street which is perfect.
  The Apartments were very nice and the hospitality and kindness of the owners were perfect!
  
  What could be improved: A little bit dark in the room, no balcony or terrace inside the room to dry my clothes
  But these were silly things, as in general the room was very clean and comfortable to stay!
