You know what caught me off guard about Parque La Guina? I was expecting just another decent three-star spot in La Orotava, but honestly – this place punches way above its weight. It’s tucked up on Camino la Güina Alta, which sounds fancy but is actually this quiet residential street that winds up the hillside above town. The taxi driver knew it immediately (always a good sign), and when you pull up, you’re greeted by this traditional Canarian building that feels more like a boutique hotel than anything you’d expect at this price point.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience the real Tenerife. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk downhill into La Orotava’s historic center – those gorgeous colonial buildings and the famous Casa de los Balcones that everyone talks about. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: being up on the hillside means you get these incredible views over the Orotava Valley, especially in the morning when the mist is still clinging to the mountains. The staff mentioned that Mount Teide is visible on clear days, and they weren’t kidding – though you’ll want to grab that view from the terrace early before the afternoon clouds roll in.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Canarian feel while still having all the modern touches you actually need. The rooms are spacious (I stayed in one overlooking the garden), and the beds are proper comfortable – not always a given in smaller hotels. The breakfast spread is locally sourced, with fresh fruit that actually tastes like something and local cheeses I’d never tried before. Small detail, but they serve this incredible local honey that I ended up buying a jar of to take home.

The whole vibe is refreshingly low-key. No crowds fighting for pool chairs, no tour groups clogging the lobby at 6 AM. It’s mostly couples and solo travelers who seem to have done their homework about where to stay. The pool area is compact but well-designed, and in the afternoons you’ll often have it mostly to yourself while day-trippers are busy down in Puerto de la Cruz. Speaking of which – the coast is only about fifteen minutes by car, so you get the best of both worlds: the peaceful mountain setting and easy access to beaches when you want them.

Parking is included, which is clutch because finding a spot in La Orotava’s narrow streets can be a nightmare during peak season. The front desk staff actually gave me detailed directions to avoid the tourist traffic when heading to different parts of the island – the kind of local knowledge that makes a real difference when you’re trying to maximize your time.

I’ll be honest, there’s nothing flashy about Parque La Guina, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s one of those places where everything just feels right – the kind of spot where you end up staying an extra night because you’re not ready to leave yet. With a 9.6 rating, I clearly wasn’t the only one who felt that way.

  It was our base point for exploring the north parth of the island and it was a good choice. They are also offereing loundry service, for 5 eur!

  It's a newly refurbished spacious apartment with everything needed, situated in a very quiet area next to a banana plantation and overlooking the ocean. The large terrace with views over the ocean and the surroundings is a great plus, perfect for having breakfast, an evening tea, or a glass of wine while stargazing.
  The owners were very nice and helpful, they gave us a lot of advice on where to eat, what to visit, etc. and also have a playful ginger cat and a lovely dog 🙂
  It was a great stay, highly recommend.

  We really liked the location of the apartment – just
  3-5 minutes by car from Puerto de la Cruz. The hosts are very kind and welcoming, and they helped us with various questions. There is parking available. The apartment was very clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts have a small dog and a cat, both very friendly.

  Everything was great. The owners are very nice. The appartment is big and has everything you need (also dishes in the kitchen) and it was clean. We had a car, there's a parking place right next to the property. Near the appartement are shops and restaurants (also in walking distance).

  It's really a top quality apartment, the two hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and the fruit basket was great. We very clearly recommend this accommodation. Very good restaurants and a fully grown up shopping mall in walking distance, although having a car can be helpful when exploring the vicinity (private parking place available).

  Urbano and Bijou are very welcoming, making the stay feel more like visiting close friends. They were very accommodating during the whole stay.
  
  The place is perfect for families – the apartment has a separate bedroom and its own outdoor terrasse. There is even a shared small playground in the shadow to keep the little ones happy while the sun's too hot.

  We stayed 3 weeks in this flat and we had a really great time here. The apartment has everything you need even for a longer vacation. We stayed there with our 8 month old baby and the owners even provided a baby bed, a baby seat and a playpen. The kitchen was perfect for cooking. And the living/kitchen room is very big. Our baby loved the terrace (and we also). The owners were so friendly and always asked us if everything is okay. The flat is in the near of Puerto de la Cruz and some grocery stores. We recommend this flat if you have a car and you want to stay in the north.
