The location on Avenida Maritima is pretty perfect, actually. Candelaria isn’t one of those touristy Tenerife spots that feels like it could be anywhere – it’s got this authentic Canarian vibe that locals seem to genuinely enjoy too. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the Basilica (you can see it from some rooms), and there’s this little stretch of black sand beach that most tourists skip right over. The hotel staff – and I mean this – actually know the area. When I asked about hiking trails, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic brochure. He drew me a little map to this coastal path that leads to some incredible tide pools.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not constantly bumping into your luggage, and the balconies… well, let’s just say I spent way too much time out there with my morning coffee watching the sun come up over the water. The WiFi actually works (tested it on video calls), which isn’t always a given in Spain. Parking was straightforward too – they’ve got their own spots, which saves you from driving around Candelaria’s narrow streets looking for a space.

I’ll be honest, it’s not the newest hotel you’ll find, but everything feels well-maintained and thoughtfully updated. The breakfast spread leans heavily into local ingredients – proper Spanish tomatoes, fresh fruit that actually tastes like something, and this incredible local cheese I’m still thinking about. The pool area gets busy around mid-morning, but early evening? It’s perfect for a quiet swim while the ocean stretches out endlessly in front of you.

The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a day or two. It’s not trying to be flashy or trendy – it’s just doing hospitality really, really well. The kind of place where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.
