Ona Las Rosas Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Ona Las Rosas in Puerto de Santiago, you immediately get that feeling this place knows what it’s doing. It’s not trying too hard to impress — just a solid four-star property that sits perfectly in the landscape without shouting about it. The building has this understated Canarian charm that actually feels authentic, not like some resort designer’s idea of “local flavor.” You know what really caught my attention though? The fact that they offer parking for free, which honestly is a godsend in this part of Tenerife where finding a decent spot can be a real headache.
Location & Neighborhood
Puerto de Santiago isn’t one of those overly touristy spots that feels like a theme park — it’s got character. The hotel sits in what I’d call the sweet spot of the area, close enough to the action but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. What couples seem to love most (and I get why they rate it so highly) is that you can walk to the marina and waterfront easily, but you’re also positioned perfectly for exploring the dramatic coastline. The Los Gigantes cliffs are practically next door, and trust me, seeing those massive rock formations never gets old.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that clean, modern feel without being sterile — you know, actual personality in the design choices. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, and depending on which side you’re on, you’ll get either mountain views or glimpses of the ocean. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-speak comfortable), and the bathroom setup is well thought out. I mean, it’s not groundbreaking stuff, but everything works exactly as it should, which is more than you can say for a lot of places these days.
Dining & Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves up a decent mix of international and Canarian dishes — nothing too fancy, but the quality is consistent and the portions are generous. What I appreciated was that they don’t try to reinvent the wheel with every dish; sometimes simple done well beats complicated done poorly. The hotel also has a nice pool area that gets good sun throughout the day, and there’s a small fitness setup if you’re the type who can’t skip workouts even on vacation. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure things run smoothly, which makes a bigger difference than you might think.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it comes down to reliability and location. This isn’t the flashiest hotel on the island, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. The combination of being well-positioned for exploring, having solid amenities, and maintaining consistently high standards (that 9.0 rating didn’t come from nowhere) makes it a smart choice. Plus, when you factor in things like free parking and genuinely helpful staff, you start to understand why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that just works — and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a hotel.
Hotels near me in Tenerife deliver quick drives to black-sand beaches, lava tube tours, and botanical gardens in Puerto de la Cruz.

A lovely place nearby with a beautiful view of the Los Gigantes, the Ocean, and La Gomera. Good food – a new chef, a pool with warm water. Friendly staff. I guess I shouldn't be writing this if I want to return there, but that's how it was. We love coming back there. Warm regards to the reception and the rest of the staff, we think fondly of you."
