Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Ona el Marqués? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Calle las Rosas, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from Puerto de Santiago’s main strip. I mean, you get the best of both worlds here – when you want to crash after a day at Los Gigantes cliffs, you’re not dealing with street noise from the bars, but when you want to grab dinner or hit Playa de la Arena, everything’s right there.
The hotel itself has this sort of understated elegance that actually works. It’s a solid 4-star property, and honestly, it feels like one – not trying too hard to be fancy, but definitely a step up from your typical beach hotel. The rooms are spacious (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given in Tenerife), and most have these decent-sized balconies where you can actually sit and have your morning coffee without bumping elbows with your travel companion. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, and they had good recommendations for hiking trails up to the cliffs that weren’t just the obvious tourist routes.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep that local Canarian vibe without going overboard with the theme park approach some hotels take. The pool area gets good sun most of the day, and there’s enough space that it doesn’t feel like you’re swimming in a fishbowl even during peak season. Speaking of which – if you’re planning to visit in July or August, book early because this place fills up with repeat guests who clearly know something good when they find it. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you add it all up: decent food, reliable wifi (important if you’re trying to work remotely), and that sweet spot location where you can walk to the harbor to catch boats to Los Gigantes, but you’re not paying the premium prices of staying right on the waterfront. Plus, there’s actually parking available, which anyone who’s driven around Puerto de Santiago during summer will tell you is worth its weight in gold.

Everything was as I expected and I had the best view. The only thing I would fault were the beds . I can normally sleep anywhere but both the mattresses and pillows were rock hard .

We loved staying at El Marques. Everyone was really nice, the facilities were great and the location was perfect. It's a quick walk to the harbour and beautiful sunset view from the bedroom.
The highlight was Jose who works at the restaurant/bar. He is so nice and made us laugh every day. We look forward to coming back.Anna from Ireland (9/10)
